Vehicle Detail

This is an extremely rare 1967 Mk II Lotus-Cortina. This car is in excellent condition and runs and drives great. The car was sold new in Canada where it spent most of its life and was given a thorough restoration Including complete engine rebuild and body completely stripped down and re-painted completed around the late 1990's The owner at that time owned the car for nearly 30 years until eventually he sold the car to another Lotus enthusiast in the USA. Eventually it made its way to the west coast and after a few years of storage has recently been brought back to driving condition. The Body and paint is in overall excellent condition. There is a little bit of bubbley rust coming through the paint on the left side rear wheel arch but no other rust that I can find. The car was repainted and the white paint is a bit brighter white than it would have been originally. There are some scratches and touch ups but the paintwork is still very nice and extremely presentable. The worst scratches are under the front bumper where it must have scraped a curb at some point (see pictures). The chrome is all in good condition with no major dings or flaws but some minor pitting. The glass is all extremely nice with just a few very tiny chips in the windscreen. mechanically the car is excellent. it has great oil pressure and the twincam dual weber DCOE head looks and runs very well. The car is extremely clean under the bonnet. It's a little cold blooded when starting from dead cold and the starter solenoid doesn't always engage on the first try but it always starts relatively easily. The cooling system works perfect and the temperature stays cool even when pushed hard. The charging and electrical system is in great condition. the clutch works great and the gearbox shifts nice and smooth in all gears. The brakes work and the car stops well but the brake pedal pressure is a little inconsistant and I suspect one of the two brake boosters may be at fault although there are no leaks. The Interior is also in extremely nice condition. The headliner, door panels, carpets and dashboard are all in great condition. The seats are mostly very nice except for a worn spot on the the drivers side bolster. All the instruments work but I think the tach might be reading a bit high. The heater and ventilation all work great. The original steel wheels are all excellent with only a tiny bit of surface rust showing on the left side wheels. All four hubcaps are present. The Lemans 165 R13 82T tyres are all excellent and the car has a good spare and tools. It comes with a clear title. Although not perfect this car is overall in great condition and they rarely come up for sale so don't miss this opportunity! I highly recommend and encouage a personal inspection if possible. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. the Cortina can be viewed and test driven by serious buyers by appointment in Granite Falls WA (near Seattle) Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangments when needed. i will gladly help as required. International bidders welcome but please be prepared for the additional costs and effort required for shipping. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions. please view the video of this car in action: With some internet browsers you may have a large blank gap while viewing this listing. Several people have asked for a picture of the rust on the left rear wheel arch I mentioned, so I have added a photo. I believe what happened is that the car was stored for several years in a building with it's left side very close to the outside wall where condensation made it a little damp, which is why the two left wheels have a bit of surface rust and the right side has none and also why the rust shown occurred. Someone else asked about under the mat in the trunk and there is no rust at all there or anywhere else i have seen.
