The description you are reading is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on my experience driving it and my observations about it. While I strive for complete accuracy in my descriptions, you are bidding on a used car with miles in excess of 100k. I cannot guarantee anything. I am not a mechanic. I do not have the training or equippment to offer a professional mechanical inspection. Each bidder is encouraged to come see this vehicle in person before bidding. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a fairly rare first generation 525iT. The BMW Touring Wagons are very desirable. 1995 was the last year of this chassis which makes this one even more desirable. I would rate the exterior condition of this BMW as ABOVE AVERAGE. Please expect to find scratches and scuffs on this vehicle as you would expect to find on any vehicle of similar miles. What is special about this wagon is that it is relatively low on miles and in relatively good condition. The 525iT was such a versatile vehicle that they usually get used pretty hard. Finding one that isn't worn out is next to impossible. The paint shines up very well. There are two "nickel sized" spots of rust on the front passenger door which is common with BMW's of this era. The tires have fair tread all around. The first generation 525iT is equipped with the coolest sunroof(s) I've ever seen. This is a very unique vehicle that anyone would be proud to drive. I would rate the interior of this BMW to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. The door panels are clean and in tact. The carpets show minimal wear for the age of the vehicle. The headliner is clean and in tact. The power windows, locks and seats work properly. Both front seats are heated also. The sunroof will tilt up to vent, slide back for front passengers and slide forward for rear passengers as well as any combination of front/rear open settings. The sunroof takes a few minutes to learn but works properly. It's like a swiss army sunroof with one button that does everything. The cargo area is clean and spacious. There is a retracting net in the cargo area that attaches to the roof from the rear seat to isolate loose cargo. The stereo has been upgraded to a Blaupunkt which sounds good. The climate control system is working properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air. A complete set of original books and manuals as well as the manual to the Blaupunkt head unit is included. Mechanically, this BMW seems to be in good running condition. The 2.5L inline six fires right up and runs smoothly. There are no warning lights on. The engine has a small oil leak (at the rear of the valve cover I think) but runs great and makes great power. Accelleration is a breeze and the front end is super tight on the highway. The brakes work very well. I am fairly certain that this vehicle will need rear shocks. It's been a while since I've had my hands on a wagon but the ride seems very squishy/bouncy. Plan on replacing the rear shocks. The hood strut needs replaced. Other than that, this is a perfect running car. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. I've driven this car at speeds in excess of 100mph and it drives strait as an arrow. It keeps a steady temperature. These wagons are very hard to find with good miles. At the time of listing this, there are no other first generation 525 wagons on ebay.
