You are bidding on a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite MK I. The paint is original. The compression is low and the 946 cc engine will require restoration. Re-boring will be required. The car runs but burns (and looses) oil (about 1/2 quart per 100 miles). I bought the car new in 1959 while in the service in Stuttgart, Germany. It has always been garaged. From 1972 it 1990, it sat in my garage waiting restoration. In 1990, I put the car back on the road. I had the head rebuilt, replaced pistons with rings but the cylinders were not re-bored, replaced engine bearings, timing chain, replaced brake cylinders and hoses. It saw limited use until 2002 and then ended up back in my garage. The brakes and tires have been sitting around too long to be driven safely without maintenance and/or replacement. All instrumentation works but the speedometer will read about 10% less than the actual speed. The car has never been in a serious accident except for dings and blemishes that can be seen from the photos. The only place I used some body filler is on the lower rear driver side fender and it was to fix a rusty spot. The metal pans under the driver/passenger feet were rusting and fiberglass matting was used there as a repair (see photos). The exhaust system is stainless steel and not rusted. The tonneau cover, top, and windows are in excellent condition. The floor mats are not. I strongly recommend shipping the vehicle and not driving it any distance.
