Offered at auction is our 1955 Willys pickup truck.The following is an excerpt from the original Ebay listing from about 2 years ago that we purchased it from."Purchased as part of an estate with other vehicles.Excellent original condition.Has the original flat head Super Hurricane I6 engine...This has been in a barn for the last 2 decades and was garaged regularly before that.This was owned for the last 40 years by an avid hunter and only used during hunting season,otherwise it was stored inside.Currently not running.Garaged all it's life.The truck comes with it's black and yellow CA plates."The transport co.picked it up in Berkley Ca.and delivered it to us in Millis,Ma.where we were thrilled to find it was just as described with the exception of the plates which had disappeared somewhere in transit.In the next few months we serviced and bought and installed a number of items to bring the Willys to it's current condition.Including,new fuel pump, water pump, exhaust, battery, head gasket, rear glass & seal, complete tune-up, cap, plugs, wires, points, & condenser, brake master cylinder, locking gas cap, fan belt & radiator hoses. We rebuilt the carburetor, media blasted all 6 original wheels, painted & installed 4 used radial tires with excellent tread. Included with the truck but not installed is a new headliner which consists of 3 cardboard pieces, & a beautiful new Willys horn button. The only rust through anywhere on the entire truck is in the right rear bed pocket as seen in the pics.The factory paint on the cab floor has flaked off from years of moisture trapped by the rubber mat juke backing so there's surface rust on some of the floor,no holes no soft spots(see pics of floor from underneath)I didn't want take the original mat out for fear off ruining it.The truck starts with a couple paddles of the gas pedal and the manual choke pulled.Once warm,it idles very smoothly and runs so quietly the only noise is the water pump and generator spinning(no exaggeration)and there is no smoke.The clutch engages just as it should and the transmission "clicks"from gear to gear when shifting,zero hunting or slop.The truck has excellent power and gets up to speed (50-55)with little effort.It's a 55 year old Jeep truck but it's very apparent it's a low mileage un-abused vehicle.There's no worn out drive train whining or slack and it ain't no BMW but there's no where near the looseness associated with the majority of this type vehicle.The brakes work fine and stop straight with good pedal.The temp,amp and oil pressure gauges work but the gas gauge,which is new(ground?) doesn't.Wipers are all there but not connected to the manifold.The heater is there but hoses are not connected although the fan works and the plastic knob still illuminates when the fan is on(see dash pic)The headlights work as seen in one of the pictures and so does the hi beam light in the dash, but we didn't chase down the turn signals or tail lights.We've had a few Willys in the last 10 years and looked at hundreds but never any this rock solid and straight with such outstanding potential. We monitor our listings regularly & we'll remove any zero bidders as well as anyone we've determined to have a questionable eBay history.
