Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my old Saab 900S that I bought in 1995 from the dealer when it had 13,000 miles on it and was the dealer’s demo. I am selling because it needs some work but it is getting rusty so I bought a nice 2004 Saab 9-3 instead. I am in the northern suburbs of Chicago and will not deliver it but I could meet you at the Deerfield train station. There is no reserve. I am selling the car AS IS. Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 wise it runs great. The rear muffler will need replacing before long. It slowly loses oil and coolant, problems that have not been analyzed. I think it is burning oil. You must pay attention to these levels! I have never replaced the clutch and it won’t last forever. There is evidently a current drain problem that causes the battery to run down if the car sits unused for 3 or 4 days – it will then have to be jump started. I don’t use the air conditioner because I think it pulls down the engine too much and I can’t remember if it still holds refrigerant charge. A brake light failure is occasionally reported but no such failure can be found. The radio antenna won’t go down. I haven’t used the tape player in a long time. A squirrel got in through the sun roof and chewed off one door lock button! The car has not been garaged. It has dings. There is some rust, mostly at the rear wheel wells and the bottoms of the doors. In front of the sun roof, the paint is pocked. The mechanic says the floor boards are rusting but it is not a safety issue yet. The sun roof went off track once and does not seal quite perfectly. The head liner droops a bit on damp days. The wheels are not alloys. The car was driven by smokers. Cruise control recently stopped working. It is not a turbo, in fact some say it is a dog, but that’s not what I think. The check engine light never goes off, but since the car always passed Illinois emissions tests and is so old, EPA no longer requires it to be tested, so the light, which is related to emissions and won’t go out due to a computer defect, is not a problem (confirmed by mechanic). Kelley Blue Book value for this year, model and mileage is $780 fair, $1255 good, $1430 excellent.
