Vehicle Detail
For sale -my 1954 Ford, half ton, short box, truck. Truck was bought new here in Northeast Mississippi and only has 57,589 original miles on it --I knew the owner personally! As far as I know the truck has never been out of North MS. I’ve been holding on to this one for a while now and finally decided to sale it due to lack of time to build it. The body is solid and straight. Truck runs and drives but does needs brake work. Gas tank is not rusted and holds fuel as it should. Truck runs good but smokes some and has a leak or two. Transmission shift good and all gears work as they should. Steering is tight because it only has 57,000 miles factory. Truck is NOT –I repeat NOT rusted out. The red you see in the photos is actually the original Ford primer that was under the original blue paint. As you can see in the photos the factory blue paint is still on 90% of the floor pans-that is rare for these trucks! I’ve never had a 50’s era Ford truck this solid. The dash, inner roof, and behind seat still look perfect. Door bottoms and rockers are solid with no rust I have found. Everything works on the truck – lights, heater, horn, --well that is all there is to work on a 54 ford truck but it all works. I had the seat recovered about a month ago. The original wood is still in the bed floor but it is under a solid sheet of steel the original owner put in years ago. There is a hole on either side of the rear cab corner the size of a pencil eraser but that is it – the corners are all there and in good shape. Running boards are in decent shape but show the most wear and usually did on these trucks. They are very usable and not bad at all. Truck is not perfect but is a very nice builder or driver like it is if you like the rat rod / hot rod look. It has a nice patina all over it and has weathered very well. I think it spent most of its life under a side shed and this has preserved it to the point it is at now. If you have any questions feel free to email me at kid@cenpen.com and I will get back to you quickly. I have a local transporter that is very reasonable and I can get a quote for the buyer if needed. Truck has a clear Mississippi title. Thanks for looking. On Sep-18-11 at 20:39:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been getting a lot of questions about the truck and how solid it is. I've been asked to explainn exactly what I see as far as rust goes on the truck. After looking at the truck today again for the first time what I see is exactly: there is a little rust where the running boards bolt onto the rear fenders -not bad and very repairable. The rust I spoke about in the listing in the cab corners isn't bad. It shows signs of rust but if you took a tape measure and measured from the bottom of the cab corner to the top of the rust area it would only be about 2 inches at the most. This rust is not terrible either and repairable without cutting the entire cab corner out as you would usually do on these model trucks. The only other rust I've found is there is a little scale on the front lip of the hood. All of this is typical with these model trucks but usually much, much worse than this one. This truck has been stored most of it's life under a shed and it shows it. I always feel like I'm leaving something out when I describe a vehicle. I want to describe a vehicle to the best of my ability and I think I have in every case and my feedback shows that. If you are a car guy or girl you know what you are looking at here in the photos --it is a VERY solid truck. It needs some work to be a daily driver --but is a very sold start. Thank you for your questions and bids -hope this helps.
