Vehicle Detail
1981 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL SURVIVOR This car is a true survivor. I have owned this car for 20 years and it has been garaged the entire time. When I purchased the car had been garaged and was in excellent condition. It had a little over 5000 miles on it when I purchased it 20 years ago. It currently has 35841. The car is Light Sea Spray Green. This color was offered in 1981 only and is one of 331 that were that color. That makes this color very rare. The paint on the car is original and has been maintained and waxed regularly. The car has never been wrecked and the body is in good shape. The car has Mark Cross leather interior that is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or signs of wear.Chrysler had 4 Cartier Chrystal pentastars on the hood, steering wheel and opera lamps. All 4 are in great shape. Two of Imperial's most notable features involved vehicle electronics. Inside the car, the typical analog gauges were replaced by a series of fluorescent displays giving the driver every bit of information that could be imagined. Unlike many other digital instrument clusters that mimicked the operation of analog gauges, the Imperial's displays represented everything numerically. Fuel, economy, elapsed time, date, time, speed, and odometer were only represented numerically. Chrysler even went as far as incorporating the transmission quadrant indicator into the electronic display. There was only 1 "extra" cost option available in 1981 a moon roof which this car does have and it is operable. Only 30% of the cars produced in 1981 had the moonroof option. This was a $900 option. The am/fm radio/cassette player are in good working condition. The car rides and drives great. It was changed over from fuel injection to carburetor in January of 1991 at a cost of $2248.09. I have all the papers and manuals on the conversion. The oil and filter have been changed every 3000 miles since I have owned it. At 27,000 miles I changed trans fluid and filter, adjusted the bands, greased the car, new tires, new shocks, changed brake fluid, fuel filter, air filter, new radiator howes, new heater hoses, new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, new rear springs. Just this year I have replaced the catalyic converter. There is one problem with the car and that is a chip in the windshield. I have a picture of it so you can see it. It is located in the bottom third of the window near the middle of the windshield. I have too many cars and not enough room. I will be glad to answer any questions about the car. mmcc3864@bellsouth.net.
