Vehicle Detail

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next vehicle through one of my NO RESERVE auctions could save you thousands over retail. Before listing a vehicle on eBay. I personally road test it so I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. Then I write a detailed description to make it feel as if you've looked at it and driven it yourself. The description you are about to read is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on the findings of my road test. The information contained within this description is true to the best of my knowledge and ability but cannot be guaranteed as I am not a mechanic. Pre-bid inspections are welcomed and encouraged whenever possible. Vehicles are shown by appointment at my York, PA storage facility. All serious bidders are encouraged to request a private showing. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. All vehicles are sold "as-is". Most of the vehicles I sell are trades from local dealerships and have not been serviced or reconditioned prior to sale. Please read the entire description and review all photos carefully before placing a bid or asking questions. Everything I know about this vehilce is fully disclosed within the following paragraphs... Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a great looking 2000 Cadillac Catera Sport sedan. The Catera was one of many attempts by Cadillac to enter into the sports sedan market which has consistantly been dominated by European auto makers. Cadillac's first shot into this market was the infamous Cimarron, which was a J-body (Cavalier) based small sport sedan aimed at the Saab 900, BMW 3 and Audi 4000. It was rushed to market before it was ready, poorly executed and failed miserably. The Cimarron was actually named one of the 50 worst cars ever, not because they were any problems with the cars themselves but because they were such a catastrophic failure and almost ruined the Cadillac brand. In 1997, Cadillac decided to try again. This time, they got smart and decided to use an actual European platform rather than a domestic model. The Cadillac Catera was born. Assembled in Russelshiem, Germany, the Catera is actually an Opel Omega. The Omega was a successful platform in Europe which was marketed as an executive sports sedan. In fact, versions of the Omega were sold around the world (Chevrolet Omega, Vauxhall Omega and Holden Commodore). In spite of being a front engine/rear drive sports sedan with similar performance with its competition, the Cadillac Catera never really took off for the brand either. I would rate the exterior of this Catera as ABOVE AVERAGE. As you can see, this is a great looking vehicle. Walking around the vehicle, you are likely to only find one or two scratches worth mentioning. The paint looks great and has a deep shine all around. All of the glass and lenses appear to be in tact. This Catera is optioned with the very desirable Sport Package which adds a rear spoiler, 17" sport wheels and Xenon headlights. The high performance tires are in great condition all around and have plenty of tread left. Being from a limited production of five years (only two years for this body), the Catera is a very unique vehicle that you don't see every day. I would rate the interior of this Catera to be in AVERAGE condition. What makes this Catera desirable is that it is one of the later models with the updated interior. The door panels are clean and in tact, providing a storage pocket in each door. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout. The gray leather sport seats are in great condition throughout. The drivers power window switch is broken but still operational. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work properly. The latch to the glove box is also broken but it opens and closes easily. This car is equipped with factory remote entry which works as it should. This vehicle is also equipped with OnStar if you would like to subscribe to that service. Both front seats are heated. The premium Bose stereo system sounds great but sometimes doesn't want to power on. The climate control system is fully automatic and works properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air. The interior trim is brushed the sport gray trim in place of the standard wood trim which looks great. Mechanically, this Catera appears to be in good condition. The narrow angle V6 starts easily and runs smoothly. I saw no leaks or smoke coming from this vehicle. During my road test, this Cadillac behaved very well. The engine kept a cool temperature and perfect oil pressure in all driving conditions. There were no warning lights on. The steering is tight and responsive. The suspension is tight and firm. Braking is smooth. This car handles great thanks to the sport suspension, performance tires and quick steering. A quick drive in this car and you know instantly that it's not a "Cadillac". The 200hp engine makes good power and accellerates this car to highway speeds effortlessly. Out on the highway, she cruises nice and strait with no pulling or vibrations. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. Please do your own research on these cars before bidding. This is a European car through and through...and they can be quirky like many European cars. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about this car. I love cars like this. Most domestic auto makers have either direct or indirect relations with European manufacturers. Once in a while, a European car makes it state side under a domestic badge. They are usually short production (like this one) and are great to get your hands on if you can. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
