Up for auction is used 2001 Ford Taurus SE sedan. The car was purchased used in 2003 and has been used mainly as commuter car. The car still runs and drive good, but does have some issues. We will start with the bad first. Car does have some rust, mainly around both rear wheels, also some on inside of doors. Front of hood and rear of deck lid have some heavy scratches. I tried to show them in the pictures. Body has the normal door dings associated with parking. Left front wheel bearing needs replaced. Gas cap doesn't seal. Local Ford dealer mechanic says this does not affect the running of the car. Check engine, and airbag light stay on. Had this checked by my mechanic, and he says neither is a safety issue. You may want to have this checked out by your mechanic if you end up purchasing the vehicle. I'm only repeating what I was told. Inside of cab fogs up sometimes, when the car is first started, not sure why, had the local Ford dealer look at it and couldn't find anything wrong. This only occurs in winter, under certain conditions, but you should be aware of it. Outside door handles can stick, when opening doors. Has one new tire, the other three will need replaced soon. They are not quite down to the wear bars, but they are getting close. Now for some good. Car has always been professionally serviced, by licensed mechanics. Radiator has been flushed and new coolant added at regular intervals. Transmission flushed and new fluid added at 75,000 miles. New springs in front this past year. New ones in back three years ago. Brakes totally redone this past winter, including rotor, drums and calipers. New electronic control module (ECM) this past spring. New serpentine belt early summer. Newer battery and starter. The car does run good, shifts good and rides good. Air blows cold, everything else works. All glass is good no cracks. It's a little dirty and will need to be cleaned up. I just don't have the extra time to do it. According to Kelly Blue book I would rate this car as being in "fair condition". Below is a description of what a car in fair condition is typically like. Some mechanical or cosmetic defects.Needs servicing, but is still in reasonable running condition.
