Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have owned this car since 5/2009. When purchased I was told it was originally a 421 car, but since it was hard to get parts during the rebuild process it was opted out for a 1971 Pontiac 455 bored out to a 468 with 400HP and was built, blue printed and balanced by Jim Butler Performance in Leoma, TN. This is not a numbers-matching car. Performance is this cars strong point and it has all the horsepower you could want on the street. I was given a lot of documentation with this car and will make this available to the successful bidder. The car was painted in 2001, the color is great and the paint shines big. This car is a driver and not a trailer queen so a few nicks, scratches and dings do exist. The overall show quality is good. The chrome shines like new and is not pitted. The interior is in excellent condition with no tears or rips in the upholstery. The dash does have a few cracks (see photos) and all of the wood trim is in good condition although there is some corner peeling in some areas. The cost is $65 through Ames to replace the dash wood trim. The oil gauge is sometimes touchy otherwise all of the gauges work. The clock and radio do not work. The shifter was replaced with a locking Hurst shifter, very closely resembling the original shifter. I tried to keep the emotion out of this auction but must say that the car is a dream to drive and an honor to own. Two pumps and it starts – every time. This car is a true survivor in excellent condition. It has it all, a great look, a real performer and a topic of conversation everywhere you go. This is one of the very few full sized performance cars of the muscle car era with lots of luxury. You will be proud to have this classic beauty in your garage. This vehicle is stored in a heated garage and was kept stored during the winter while I owned it. The car has less than 5,000 miles on the engine · 9½:1 heads · Stainless Steel Valves with 3 cut hardened seats · Chrome molly top ring, cast 2nd ring, stainless oil ring · Edelbrock Performance Cam · Hydraulic Lifters · Roller rockers, seals and poly locks · Edelbrock Intake/Carb · Accel HEI Distributor · 6A MSD Ignition · TCI Street Fighter TH400 Trans · Custom Drive Line · New Brakes · Newer Dual Exhaust · Hurst S/S Shifter LOC · 3-Turn close ratio power steering turn unit · Fender Skirts · New electric fuel pump & regulator · Front end rebuild 10/01 · Tilt steering wheel · Rally gauges Some small problems to make you aware of: · Glove compartment is missing · Driver’s side seatbelt mechanism cover is missing · Removable trunk light is missing · The hub caps are wrong for this car · I have the fender skirts but the passenger side skirt has trouble going on · Antenna is missing · Needs new windshield wipers · Dome light doesn’t work Please note that all sales are binding and final.
