Vehicle Detail
When we bought this truck the 59 body and bed were already on the 1970 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4 running gear. This was done by a friend of my wife who was a body and paint man. He passed away before he could finish the truck. The engine was a 400 ci chevy and 350 automatic transmission both bebuilt. I put the 1800 miles on the truck when a crack happened in the block of engine. I bought a crate 350, from a friend who took it out of a 38 chevy sedan, because he put a big block in the 38 chevy. The engine had 6,500 miles at the time I bought it. Runs great with lots of power. I put on a Edelbrock manifold and carberator, power steering, air conditioning and AM/FM/CD stereo. Truck was bought in California on a vacation in 2003. Had truck shipped back to NY and drove it that summer. In the fall, put it in my barn and started working on it. The truck was in primer, and I was just going to paint it and fix what was needed. The more we did , we could see a full frame restoration was needed. Being in the pressure washing business we had just bought baking soda blasting equipment. Being a California truck there was no rust, but a lot of paint. When I got to the last layer it was yellow in color. We soda blasted all the parts and started to reassemble. Only panels replaced were firewall, tailgate, and headboard in box, due to dents. Bed of truck is cherry wood from trees on our land. The paint and body work was done by John's Restoration in FLoyd, NY. This is what was replaced and is all new: Front and rear dumpers, grill, headlight bezels, rims and tires (goodyear wranglers) brake pads, calipers, rotors and lines. Shocks front and rear. Wiper arms and blades. All new windows, rubber moulding, and felts. Door handles inside and out, window handles, instrument bezel and gages. Heating and cooling bezels, "IDIDIT" tilt steering column (chromed). Headliner, carpet, bucket seats & jump seat, seatbelts. Rubber door molding. All inner wheel wells. Relocated gas tank. Exhaust system "Flowmaster". One piece floor pan. All new wiring, hood latch, and radiator. For more questions or other pictures please email me.
