Vehicle Detail

1958 short-bed Willys pickup truck. 226 CID, in-line, six cylinder, Willys Super Hurricane engine. Three-speed floor shift. Four wheel drive, with Hi-Lo ranges. Koenig front & rear PTO drive (not driving any attachments now, but I do have the front PTO driveshaft). Willys Motors called this model the Utility Truck and that is just what it has been for me. I have owned the truck since 1996 and it’s been used just occasionally for runs to lumber yard, builders supply, nursery, etc. Whatever’s needed to be hauled, the Willys hauled it. This truck had the bed shortened to 6 feet and a rudimentary body and paint job at some time prior to my ownership. The bed floor is ¾” marine plywood (over the rusted steel bed) and well braced underneath. I have carried over 2,000 pounds in the bed so it’s solid for serious work. The frame is solid. The truck has been kept inside for all the time that I have owned her. In 1997 I had the engine, clutch, gearbox & transfer case professionally rebuilt (Fred’s Engine Service, Coatesville PA). I also had the carburetor, starter, and generator rebuilt at that time. I also replaced the radiator with a new one. The truck has covered less than 4,000 miles since the rebuild and it is in fine running condition. There are five new mud & snow tires installed which have less than 200 miles on them. Several of the gauges do not work but an NOS gauge cluster will be provided with the truck. The right-side window is cracked but I will provide a replacement with the truck. An original shop manual & illlustrated parts manual also go with the sale. Most of the wiring has been replaced. Heater and defroster work fine. All lights work & battery is good. There is some body rust but nothing too serious. As I said, the body work and paint work was a second rate job. There is some paint peeling now in a number of spots. The front end could use some work because the steering wanders a bit going down the road. Actual mileage is unknown so I entered 100k in the auction. Maintain and use it or restore it. Your choice. Clear PA title in my name. Terms of sale: $250 non-refundable deposit due within 72 hours of auction closing (PayPal preferred). Balance is due in cash or by bank cashier’s check within 14 days of auction closing. If needed, I will store the truck outside on my property for up to 30 days from the auction closing. Ask any questions you may have.
