Vehicle Detail

For Sale: 1985 Jeep CJ7. 118,xxx miles. Many recent improvements. I bought this Jeep about 18 months ago. It looked good on ebay but needed some TLC to get it running well. Now it starts and runs like a new car. I only drive it for fun, but this time of year I am in it all the time. It cruises along on the highway easily and really preforms well. It has the 4.2 liter straight six that has plenty of power and certainly better economy than an 8cyl. It comes (as pictured) with a full hard top and full hard doors with roll-up windows etc. I will also include a bikini top and full cab cover as well. The cab cover will keep all but the most severe rain storms out, but that said, a little water won't hurt it. I took a couple of the floor plugs out and it drains quickly. The heat works well, I surf and typically drive this to the beach (not ON the beach) even in the winter and it keeps you warm and it handles the snow very well. Below is a list of the work that I have done to it. Most of this was done over the late fall and winter, I just drove it as-is for the summer last year. I have found it to be a very reliable truck and it has been a pleasure owning it. But I have 5 kids and there just aren't enough seats so I am buying a Land Rover Defender that seats 12 instead. I've listed every detail worth mentioning below, if you are local I'll be happy to let you drive it, kick the tires etc. Recent Work: New Webber Carburetor: I replaced the issue plagued Carter 2bbl and I got probably 25 more HP and better gas mileage. New 3 row aluminum radiator: The engine runs cool as can be all summer long, it's rust proof and worry free. New gas tank: The original had a small leak, this one is brand new (not reconditioned) and has a special rust proof coating. Complete brake overhaul: The master cylinder was replaced not long before I bought it, I replaced the wheel cylinders, rotors (front) drums (rear) obviously pads etc. including a new emergency brake cable. New exhaust system: When I bought the truck it had most of an exhaust system, the rest fell off a month later. This is brand new from the manifold back including the catalytic converter. Power Steering lines: That was the first thing to go, the previous owner had made his own, that never works. Re-wiring: There were some electrical "glitches" that I resolved, everything (gauges etc.) work well. Bikini Top: I added a bikini top, which is easy to put on and take off; it's great for keeping the sun off your (my) bald head. New Shocks in the rear, I have front shocks and a new steering stabilizer that I will try to get on before you take it. If you're into working on cars, I just throw them in the back and help you on the price. New Seats: I put new seats in it almost the week I got it. The driver's side has some tears in it already and the passenger side I am sure will follow suit. They are black vinyl and I guess don't take sun exposure well. Seat covers would go a long way. I wasn't too worried, they work. The rear seat is holding up well. Various other minor issues like lenses and door latches etc. were dealt with too... This is a great truck and it is a great time to own this. I have it priced to move but I need it out of the driveway soon, I'm flying to the Carolinas next week to pick up the Defender. Email me any specific questions; if you are out of state I'm happy to help you ship it though I always find it more fun to go get it and drive it back. I picked this truck up in Toledo Ohio (nearly 700 miles). That trip took me forever then, it'd make that drive in a breeze now. I am an upfront guy, the pictures make this look a little better than it does in person. The paint is a little flatter and has chips and scratches on it. I bought it this way because it doesn't have any major rust issues, the body mounts are new and the frame has been sand blasted and rust-proofed. I don't do body work so I needed something pretty tight. The previous owner cut out the tub and welded in a wrangler tub, not the cleanest job, but it works. I personally love the way it looks and I get compliments EVERY time I go out with it. You'll have a blast driving this. This vehicle is for sale locally and listed on Craig's list as well. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells.
