Vehicle Detail
1994 Chevy Caprice Classic station wagon. Color burgundy over silver gray. Mileage 215713. The electronic display doesn't always work. It is a high mileage car, not a cream puff by any means. We bought it in 2000 and used it almost exclusively for travel. We needed to replace the alternator and found that it does not take a standard one. There is a "P" in the VIN number , that means it has the police package engine. That may explain why the engine is so strong, even today. We live in the country and used it for travel. Mostly road miles on it. ENGINE: 5.7L V8 MPI (with police package); runs strong; doesn't use oil or smoke; has slight miss sometimes when going up a hill or grade, but goes away when you press on it (mechanic says it probably leaks a little air around the throttle box-says its an easy fix). I should have had it fixed , but it doesn't happen very often. Battery was installed September 2006, probably will need a new one sometime soon. INTERIOR: Generally good, no tears,- it is sun faded. There is a crack in the dash (it came there this summer). All power equipment works: seats, windows, door locks, antenna. The odometer/speedometer display only works intermittently. We know it is recording, when it does work, there are more miles on it and the cruise control works all the time. It's the display only, but the mechanic says it will be an expensive repair. It has the rear facing 3rd seat--will carry 8 passengers. AC works, but has a leak and won't hold a full charge very long (1wk?). BODY: Looks good from a distance, no big dents, but up close lots of little nicks and scratches. Has some rust on the rear quarter panels (see picture). The coating on the chrome trim is starting to craze and peal, bumper moldings are fading. To restore would require no major work (Bondo and thick primer only). Tires have about 1/3 of the tread left. KNOWN HISTORY: We bought it in 2000. It's been to Florida twice, North Dakota several times. For the last 5 years it was used mostly as a pick up and sat idle most of the time. I believe there are a lot of miles left in it. But there are no guarantees. TERMS OF SALE: As is, where is, local pick up only. Successful bidder will deposit $500.00 or full amount to Pay Pal within 5 business days of the sale. If balance is paid at time of pick up--cash only--no checks of any kind.
