Vehicle Detail

Pitterrier Store Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE attention to detail kind of guy. I looked for a 1955 Porsche Spyder Replica for several years and was about to have one built by Beck/Chamonix. I was overwhelmed by all the choices and then this car appeared on Ebay in the fall of 2009. The owner and builder was a car restorer specializing in aluminum fabrication. He was a real nit picker and spent years researching the details on the original 550 Spyder. He taped the engine sound of an original at the Pebble Beach Car Show and took a lot of pictures. He hand built the exhaust system and it is just fantastic. He fabricated aluminum pieces on the doors and interior that change the car's look from a replica to a recreation. The car is registered in Florida as a 1955 Porsche and has 1955 license plates. Following is the description of the car from the Ebay ad when I bid on it: It wears silver paint on the exterior and red leather on the interior. A set of original Porsche gauges where restored and replaced the ones that came in the car, along with a set of original seats covered in red leather. An original turn signal switch and steering column, Nardi steering wheel and custom aluminum trim pieces. This car was converted to push button start using original Porsche parts and switches. Original interior door handles were also added to replace the old cable system. Interior lights were also installed for night use. Power for this car is from a 2400cc, 4 cylinder, air cooled engine built by C.B performance. Having well over 200HPand weighing only 1200lbs, this car really moves. A very rare and no longer available original 550 exhaust system was installed. With satin finish and hi-temp exhaust cap. This system cost over $1500.00, and really sounds like the real factory 550’s did. The engine also has a remote engine oil filter. The transaxle for this car was built by rancho using newcases and all new parts, heavy duty axles, higher gear set, billet shift forks and operates from a brand new wood shifter, Fuel system uses an electric fuel pump with an enlarged 3/8” fuel line. The braking system was also upgraded to disc and uses stainless steel braided lines on all four corners. Wheels are wide-s and are chrome plated with detailed centers and lug nuts that are specially coated with black oxide. Tires are high speed racing Excelsior tires with racing tubes and brass valve stems. The exterior of the car has Bosch script head light covers with original running and tail lights. A custom built aluminum front grill was installed, and a Raydot side mirror. The Porsche emblems and badges are rare and I am told, no longer available. This car also comes with a set of meat balls for all four sides that are not yet installed. It also comes with an unstamped, original, aluminum VIN tag to be installed by the buyer. Car includes new vinyl top. This car has less than 700 Miles on it. This car is in perfect shape with no bugs or problems, and is very reliable. This car is still in perfect shape and comes with a car cover (I understand the builders grandmother did the sewing), black tonneau cover (the builder and I elected not to install snaps on the body, because it just breaks up the clean lines of the car), Porsche head covers (not installed), vintage style stickers for the Mille Miglia look and extra parts. The black top and side curtains are included, are in the truck and other than putting the top on when I inspected the car, have stayed in the trunk. There is nothing I would add or change to this car. If you add up all the extra and optional parts, you get to well over $40,000.00 very quickly. Let me know if you have any questions. My office phone number 561.514.0975. Good Luck with your bid!
