Vehicle Detail
OK, I have had quite of few of these Older Cougars over the past 20 years but Never have I come across a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible with a Factory 4-speed Wide Ratio Toploader and a 351W Factory M-code which came from the Factory with 290 HP ( 1 of Only 67 ), starts right up first shot and runs great, also shifts great through all 4 gears and is a pleasure to drive. Also came equipped from the Factory with Heavy Duty Suspension, and Traction-Lok Differential (3.25 Ratio). I have never even come cross one this Rare at any Cougar Nationals or seen one for sale in any of the car Mags including Hemmings. I have only come across this particular Cougar by pure Luck and deserves a top notch restoration. Has been sold new in Seattle, WA and has always been a West Coast car as far as I know, looking at the undercarriage I would say for sure, Frame Rails, Torque Boxes and Original Floor pans all look really nice with no patches, and also the fender aprons incluing Battery Tray do not even have any rust issues. The low mileage of 51,500 may be correct looking at the Original Leather Interior, has some cracking but is very soft, top areas of all seating has some fading from the sun, the ConvertibleTop seems to have been replaced and works perfect, the dash pad is so nice it's hard to believe it has zero cracks and looks NOS, and is why I believe the mileage may be very Low. The Original styled steel wheels are in great condition but could use a respray. The front and Rear bumpers look New with No pitting. The Passenger side clock actually still keeps time, all gauges work as they should and also all the lights including Low Fuel and Seat Belts still light up. The Rim-Blow wheel will need restored including a new switch. Also has power front Disc Brakes, and Power Steering and a very nice Center console with No cracks. The paint code (C) is a Very nice color, Dark Ivy Green Metallic and will need to be repainted due to some areas of paint cracking, you can see where the paint on the passenger side rear quarter has also come off in a few areas, seems like it did have atleast one other repaint many years ago and deserves another soon, should be minimal Body work needed, can only actually see one minor ding on the drivers door. Inside the trunk is also rust-free (pictures) and still has all Original paint. Please only serious Bidders, a $1000 Non-Refundable Deposit is due at auctions end through paypal and the Balance in a cashiers check or wire transfer. I can help with finding a reasonable transporter to anywhere in the US at buyers expense, Good Luck Bidding!!!On Jul-30-11 at 11:24:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all of the offers but the auction will run its course unless I add the buy it now option, also had a few questions regarding body work needed, all I can see is possibly bubbles on the corners of doors, other than these areas there will not be any patches or panels needed, even the front/rear valances are perfect with no dents, Thanks for all the interest and Good luck!!
