This is a 2 owner Mercedes which has lived the majority of its life in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was originally delivered as part of the European delivery program on February 26th 1987. The car spent the first 6 years in the mid-west accumulating only about 20k miles before coming to Arizona around 1993. The car had an original sales price of $57,290! This car has a religious service with receipts and service stamps documenting the entire life of this car. Over $22,000 in service receipts will accompany this car. The paint is mostly original and is finished in the gorgeous Mercedes color of Signal Red and is in great condition and looks stunning. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as any collector car should be. The car is riding on original Mercedes 15" alloy wheels and is riding on like new BF Goodrich tires! All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The windshield is like new with no chips. The black soft top is in excellent condition, and was just replaced. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape. The interior is in great shape all around. The dash and door panels are in like new condition. The supple original tan leather seats are all in very good condition and look very nice with no rips or ware lines, which shows the quality of leather used in this car. The wood grain is in excellent condition. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the original Becker Cassette player. Music is crisp and clear and not overwhelming. The sound system definitely adds to the driving experience of this roadster. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The trunk compartment is clean enough to eat from. The spare tire compartment is clean as a whistle and the original spare tire has never hit the pavement! Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by Mercedes authorized service centers. Under the hood is clean as a whistle and looks like new. I just performed $2600 in work and the car given a once over and its all ready to hit the road with the top dropped! After being stored for the past 4 or 5 years the car had the following work done to get it back on the road: Transmission dropped and resealed, both fuel pumps done, water pump, radiator, power steering box resealed, A/C serviced, sub-frame mounts replaced, as well as the stabilizer shock. Total work = $2600. The previous owner also spent $2500 in the last few hundred miles doing a complete tune up, new engine computer, and complete fuel system overhaul. That is in addition to the receipts going back to when this car was brand new. Total on receipts is over $22,000 in service. The car will include 1 key, original tools, spare tire, top removal tool, and owners manuals. All in all, this is one of the best maintained SL's that I have had the privilege of being associated with. I truly feel it is one of the nicest ones on the market and I will put it next to any of the lower mileage examples and it will hold its own.
