Here we have a very interesting vehicle built by Al Hammond of DeSoto, Missouri in 1985. Frame is a 1978 280Z, custom body, V8 engine. The body has a custom nose and body panels, leaded so no seams, very expertly executed. Show car Red is still very shiney and presentable, some scratches present. Custom dual exhaust, also very well executed. Two very small rust bubbles on opposite side of car, not by wheel arches. Several small dings here and there on this 33 year old car. Currently licensed in Illinois as an Antique Vehicle, see license number! Highly chromed Chevy 362 c.i. engine mated to a turbo 350 auto transmission. Former owner dynoed at 305 h.p. Wooden steering wheel, not as red as photo indicates. Seats are maroon synthetic leather, with seam open on drivers seat. Mileage is unknown as odometer does not work, very common on V8 Z's (no gear in transmission). Replacement black carpet, very clean. Replacement console, new. Dash cap, excellent. Strengths: V8 Datsun Z, always starts right up, shifts crisply, Chrome Cragar wheels with very low mileage (and very wide!) tires. Wooden steering wheel with genuine logo. Logos on car are genuine. HP to weight approximately 1:8, unfettered by power steering, power windows, power seats, air (all not present). Clear Illinois title, in hand. Inexpensive show car insurance. Have performance and handling, with very low cost and easy maintenance. Needs: Odometer not working; needs hand brake connected, needs horn connected. Miscellaneous rock chips and small dents. Dent in back panel (very repairable, no rust). Would benefit from a repaint for perfection. Will include radio and speakers, not installed since new console installed. Slight damage at rear panel, not a difficult or expensive fix. Air conditioning compressor not present, I would not consider adding one. Entered in one car show last year and won its class (1970-1979). Comes with period racing helmet and chrome headlight covers (not installed) these cost $500 and were special ordered from Japan.
