Vehicle Detail

This is an opportunity to acquire a real piece of American Motoring History, a 1981 DeLorean. The dream child of John Z. DeLorean. Following in the footsteps of exotic European sports cars with its wedge shape and flamboyant Gull Wing Doors the DeLorean was designed by Bill Collins another former Pontiac Engineer. It was built by DeLorean in a factory in Northern Ireland with grants from the British Government. These dramatic motorcars were produced from 1981-1982 (some left over 82’s were sold as 83’s) and announced the arrival of a bold new Independent American Motorcar manufacturer to challenge the best from Detroit and indeed the rest of the world. It might be pointed out that the first DeLoreans off the production line had some problems. These would be the 1981’s with the BLACK interiors. When these problems were corrected, they switched to the grey interiors. So, 1981’s with grey interiors and all 82’s and 83’s are with the latest improvements. The DeLorean evolved with the collaboration of several Motorcar companies the most influential being Lotus of England which developed the chassis and all independent suspension, and fiberglass inner framework for the stainless-steel body panels. The V6 power plant was also European, developed jointly by Peugot, Renault and Volvo, and is usually called a “PRV-V6”. Unfortunately as with some other specialist motorcar companies issues due to manufacturing , quality control problems, dubious finances and some that seemed to come straight from a Hollywood movie script, the DeLorean Motorcar Company demise was profound and approximately 8,500 of these epic motorcars were built. Indeed Hollywood had a major role in the iconic cult status these Motorcars posses immortalized in the film “Back to the Future” . This rare exotic motorcar is in very nice unmolested original condition throughout. The bodywork is extremely straight, dry and clean. The beautiful stainless-steel is all original and has NO nicks, chips or blemishes. Everything works. The AC blows cold. The leather seats and interior are in pristine condition. The engine runs strong and makes for a very enjoyable driving experience! It is one of very few produced with factory automatic transmissions. The condition of the car reflects the extremely low miles, making this a great addition to your motorcar collection. The motorcar is available for viewing in the Florida area by appointment, and I encourage you to view it if possible to truly appreciate this fine classic car. I will require an initial Deposit of $500.00 within 24 Hours. The balance may be paid by Certified check, bank transfer or cash. The car and title will not be released until Pay Pal, Certified check or Bank transfer have been cleared. This is a classic collector vehicle, and there is NO Warranty, and it is "sold as is". Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser but every effort will be made to assist in the shipment to its new home. I Reserve the Right to End the Listing, as it is being offered elsewhere. Thank you.
