This is a two senior owner Mercedes which has lived its entire life in the dry Arizona desert. The car was pre-delivery inspected at Mercedes of San Diego, but was dealer traded and was originally purchased by Mr. John Peters on August 30, 1988 at Phoenix Motor Company here in Phoenix at an original MSRP of $62,500! He sold the car to its second owner around 2001 with only about 22,000 miles on it. This car has been driven extremely sparingly during its life averaging only 1,300 miles per year! The body on the car is in pristine condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint is finished in the gorgeous Mercedes color of Classic White and is in awesome condition and looks as good as the day it rolled of the lot. It is nicely accented by a black hard-painted coach line. The car doesn't have a single ding, chip or scratch! The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as an Arizona car should be. The car is riding on original Mercedes 15" wheels and has brand new Pirelli P4 tires! All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The windshield is like new with no chips. The black OEM Mercedes soft top is in excellent condition, and was just replaced by the dealer within the last year or two. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape. Overall the exterior appearance of this car is a 10 out of 10. The interior is in great shape all around. The dash and door panels are in like new condition. The supple original burgundy leather seats are all in very good condition and look very nice with no rips or ware lines, which shows the quality of leather used in this car. The wood grain is in excellent condition. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the upgraded Alpine CD player, but the original does come with the car. Music is crisp and clear and not overwhelming. The sound system definitely adds to the driving experience of this roadster. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. This interior is absolutely flawless and in immaculate condition. The trunk compartment is clean enough to eat from. The spare tire compartment is clean as a whistle! Also the original tool kit is included as well as the original jack. Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by Mercedes authorized facilities. The receipts show regular oil changes and comes with thousands of dollars of service receipts, always receiving synthetic oil changes at certifed shops. It has recently had all motor and trans mounts, as well as subframe mounts replaced. Also the cooling system has been gone through receiving new radiator, thermostat, and water pump. This car just had the oil changed and given a clean bill of health. Under the hood is clean as a whistle and looks like new. Its all ready to hit the road with the top dropped! How often do you come across these cars with all the original manual, service book, warrantee book, and original instruction cards. This car has everything. Its truly amazing.
