Vehicle Detail
I am selling a 1967 Chevy Camaro RS/SS. It started life as an Rally Sport Camaro with the Super Sport option. It was Royal Plum with Black interior and had a 350 small block with a 4 speed transmission when it rolled off the assemble line. I ran the VIN numbers. The car still retains the original 12 bolt rear-end with numerous upgrades and modifications including a split mono-leaf and Caltrac bars that were set up personally by John Calvert when I lived a few miles from his shop in Lancaster CA. The car is uncut in the back. There is no tubbing at all. I have owned the car since 2001. The car had already been a drag race car from back in the middle 80's. It had a 427 Big block in it when I bought it with turbo 350 Transmission, and the factory 12 bolt rear end with 4.10 gears. I rebuilt the 427 and tried to keep it on the street as an 11 second quarter mile car. After tons of time, work, and money... it was not running in the 11's. So, at this point, I put a new certified to 8.50 ET Roll Cage in it, Put a 496 Cubic Inch Big Block chevy that is .070 over to come out with 498 cubic inches. It is 13.2 compression with forged pistons, Trick Flow aluminum heads that are fully race ported and polished. It has an 0.849 lift Bullit A-fire solid roller cam, Milodon gear drive, Moroso Vacume pump, H-beam rods, SRP Pistons, Stainless Steel Valves, T&D Shaft rocker arms, triple valve springs good to 0.900 lift. Moroso 8 quart oil pan, Titanium retainers, etc. The car was built to run mid to low nines in the quarter mile. It was freshed up with a cost of over $14,000 in the summer of 2009. The car has not been raced at the track due to a move from California to Texas for Work related reasons. I have pictures of the work, and receipts for most of the work. There is a video attached, were I ran the can in the first pass and the final round of Bracket Racing in Bakersfield CA. in the fall of 2008. The motor had been raced three seasons without being freshed up. The car went in the 9.80's with a tired motor. The motor is freshened up as of most of the car. Since that race, I put a complete Smith Bros. front clip on it with rack and pinion steering, new Aluminum Spool, 35 Spline axles with new C-Clip eliminators, Complete new fuel system including, cell, pump lines, regulator, etc., New 5 point harness seat belts, a new parachute, new window net, chassis cert, etc. The details are in the last invoice of almost $14,000. The motor was built by Roslan's Performance in Atascadero CA, The Trans is a fresh Mike's Transmission Ultimate Turbo 400 with reverse valve body and a Continental Stall converter that was matched to the Engine Dyno results. It is a 5,800 rpm stall converter with a Trans Brake, MSD 2 step with an RPM dial for the launch RPM. It has an B&M Pro Ratchet shifter with a T handle and button for the trans brake. The car had a complete new Painless wiring harness put in it wired specifically for the race car. It has a ron Davis Heavy Duty Aluminum Radiator, New Electric fan pulling 3400 cfm of air, a CSI electric water pump, an 1150 Holley Dominator Carb that is flowing about about 1320 after being set up for my motor at the "Carb Shop" in Southern California. The rear-end gear that finally worked exactly for the car and horsepower was a 4.30 gear, new by US gear/ Strange. It has brand new tires and tubes on the back, 28 x 10.5 Mickey Thompson ET Drags. The front tires are new Mickey Thompson Front runners. The car has aluminum Weld Wheel Pro Stars on it. There is alot I am propably missing here, but the car has been a labor of love for the last 10 years... The car is ready to race except for a few minor NHRA items that might be out dated... The car should easily run in the low 9's now. You will need to get your NHRA licence to drive this car at it's full potential on any cars that run 9.99 ET and faster... I will put up some pictures and a video of the car running 9.8's on a tired motor prior to the freshen up. If you have any other questions that I may have left out, please feel free to call me at 972-252-7575 or my cell number at 661-202-6000 or leave a message at 903-873-4599 if I haven't got back to you in a few days. The car is in Dallas Texas. This car hooks good and runs straight down the track. Good luck on your bidding, I have over $40,000 in this car, you won't be disappointed.... The car dyno's 809 Horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 645 foot pounds of torque at 5,800 rpm's...The car has never had Nitrous, or any power adders on it... I was the only one that raced the car... Doug. Let me know if you don't the video of it running 9's, I can e-mail it to you... Thank you.
