Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration is this one of a kind 1963 chevrolet (Greenbrier)corvair van. This van is customized from the front bumper to the rear bumper. The body work is done with sheet metal and steel. The fender flairs are rolled steel and were made with the spoilers and running boards all were welded together then lifted and welded to the body as one piece. All the rain gutters were cut off and ground smooth. The gull wing door was made by hand they wanted it to be a wider opening so welding two doors together wouldn't work. This van has a huge history with over 20 years of competitions and car shows it has transformed from one of the most winning vans of the 70 to early 80's and went on to the "Corsa Nationals" second place with its complete alteration and new body style and a primer paint JOB!! The builder didn't want to compete till the van was painted but was hounded by so many people because of how awesome the van was with its new look. He made an agreement to compete as long as the magazine publishers would not take any pictures and print them publicly. This van has been in well over 30+ competitions and shows it has won back to back best of show in california's "CASA DE FRUTA"Custom van show that made the cover of "TRUCKEN" magazine as well as the centerfold. Unfortunately I do not have all the history of this van but had a chance to confirm much of it by contacting its creator and receiving some trophy's and actual magazine's it was featured in. What I did accomplish is a ton of photos confirming many competitions and photo shoot's it has has had over the years many of the articles in these magazine's confirm this history to be true. All the photos magazine articles trophies and plaque's are included in the sale. . The photo's show much of the build being performed from what it looked like in the beginning and how it became what it is today. From the engine to the body you will see how this van was created and all the countless hours that went in to it. Investing close to 50k and doing most of the work him self The creator of this van left nothing out even the exhaust system runs from the stainless steel headers to the front of the van and then back through 38" glass packs back to the rear bumper over 25' of pipe on each side gives this van a rumble you would have to hear to beleive. This van was given the Nic name "The Baddest corvan on earth" quoted in corvanatics magazine. I would take the pepsi challenge to anyone who wants to step up and prove them wrong. So many cool features were added to this van like the shaved door handles and the power windows even the outside fuel door was moved to the inside of the drivers door jam,The gull wing door flips open with the push of a button. there is a custom wall separating the engine compartment from the rest of the van not only does this help keep the engine noise to a minimum it open up the opportunity to house the most extreme sound and video system and have it all completely out of sight. One could only dream of the system this van could support. You could channel base relief out of the side scoops the gull wing has a 36" cut out that was designed for a flat screen to flip down when opened the hard work has been done all it needs is the monitor. The interior of this van is as it was back in the 80's right down to the diamond tuck to the shag carpet. One could only imagine the interior that this van could accomidate. The custom hardwood dash and consol house 9 VDO And Stewart warner gauges :RPM,Speed/miles,Fuel,oil pres, block temp, cylinder temp, oil temp, and voltage As for the engine its the same chromed out 6 cylinder engine described in the Trucken Magazine and rebuilt by the previous owner. There are several pictures of the engine out of the van confirming the custom work that went in to this engine. This van is and always will be an original one of a kind treasure That preserves The 70's and 80's Van & Trucken Dayz. Its amazing how many of us remember those days even those who don't are amazed by this van. There is no hiding from people when your on the road with this van they will flock to you every time. No matter where you go this van steels the show, you will get more thumbs up than sincle and ebert. Although its hard to see this paint job is over 30 years old and needs minor touch ups due to rust coming through in two areas as well as a few paint chips here and there Although it looks great its far from perfect and will require some attention. This work can be fixed by any good body shop or experienced painter I have all the original paint codes. This has been done more the once over the years and the results have been a perfect match. I will provide a estimate from a qualified body shop and will have the work done and deduct that amount from the winning bid total(its approximately $1,000) or I will deduct the amount from the total and the buyer can have the repairs done. This is not a lot of work most people wouldn't even bother to do the repairs but it will only get worse in my opinion. Also the gull wing door is unfinished on the interior side and needs upholstery .Whether is to compete in competition shows or use it to display new hi end audio and video systems for your company this investment will pay off, to this day we haven't seen anything close to its original style & looks. I have had this van up on the block before and it didn't reach its reserve. I couldn't understand why till a friend pointed out that although I was told about it being in magazines and winning competitions I could only tell people about what I thought to be true. Not much could be varified. For the serious collector this falls short. So I took the time to research this van and had vary positive results many people have told me they have seen this van before years ago in other states like washington and Oregon and even texas but it was different looking. I assumed it to be a mistake. Then out of the blue the creator called me up and we set up a meeting and now it all makes sense this was the van people were thinking of it did compete in all those states and it was different. So now I can not only prove and verify its winning history you can see first hand through the many photos The transformation from one to another. I have the trophies and plaques it has won and some of the magazines it was featured in validating its history,I have only a few magazines that featured this van the creator has many more and will provide them as he finds them they are packed away in his basement. He has agreed to give them to me as he locates them. Turns out its been featured in over 30 magazines,Like Hot Rod,ROD and Custom,Trucken( 3 times )Corvanatics,Corsa,Street Roder,Car Craft to name a few. Previously I have searched swap meets and car shows for back issues of car and truck magazines and found quite a few with this van on the cover however I didn't think it was the same van. So I just passed them by thinking dam that was close. With that said this van is sure to make reserve I have left it the same as before its in the 10 to 13 k range This van was previously appraised at 25k several years ago as pointed out by the creator. unfortunately with this market and economy one can only hope for the best, its a great time to buy and a hard time to sell. I am moving right now and cant take it with me so I regretfully have to let it go I have had it for 7 years now only driving it 200 miles give or take, it runs like a dream. You will have nothing but great times with this one of a kind van. One more thing The creator of this van is Nationally known and wanted to be anonymous for this sale. However the winning bidder will receive all that information and know who he is. thank you for your time and only the vary best regards to you and yours.
