Vehicle Detail
Hello, You are bidding on a 1975 Volkswagon Van VIN=2252032334 (doorplate stamp dates 10-74). It's history is as follows: A neighbor or mine was moving out of town in 2005, so he requested that I keep his daughter's Volkswagon van on our property until such time as he was able to retrieve it (his daughter used it to camp in it & commute with it to a local college). Weeks turned to months (which turned to years), and my former neighbor never picked up the van. He eventually signed off on the title, and sent it to me for me to do with the van as I pleased. Please note that the odometer reads: 572.8 but I don't know the engine wear or history-it certainly looks used! The inside is moldy and musty and in need or a thorough cleaning and make-over. It can make a good parts van, or be project van for someone who feels inclined to make it roadworthy. I used to start up the van from time to time, but eventually the battery went dead and it just sat there. It has been parked in the same spot for six years enduring storms, falling branches and rodents. I did get the van started (new battery) and it does start and idle nicely, but there are many things wrong with the van in general, so it is not for the feint hearted, or mechanically unsavvy! There are brake assembly issues. There are fuel/air aspiration issues (the engine would start and then die after a few seconds suggesting a fuel pump relay or air flow sensor relay problem). I removed the air intake/air sensor assembly to find that the engine starts and idles nicely, but the fuel/air aspiration must be addressed. The throttle linkage assembly needs repair. The tires are in poor shape, the inside smells very musty, and branches broke a couple of side windows. The odometer reads: 572.8 but I have no idea what this means! The body has some dents and scrapes and rust, but I doubt it has been in any kind of major accident. Before it sat for six years, it appears to have been a usable and drivable van. I can make no guarantes about this vichicle. It will start and idle, but it will require serious effort to make it roadworthy (considering it's several issues known and unknown). If you are a fan of these older VW vans, here is your chance for a project, or parts van! I will begin this NO RESERVE AUCTION at $200!!! Here is you chance for a sweet deal ! The buyer must make all arrangements to pick up and transport the vechile. If you live in Northwest Washington State, contact me and you're welcome to check it out before you bid! I am uninterested in trades of any kind!!! Cheers and happy bidding (and good luck with it)!
