Vehicle Detail

1986 Maserati Quattroporte Up for auction is my 1986 Maserati Quattroporte. I bought this classic luxury sedan about eighteen months ago from the owner of a marina in Providence, Rhode Island. The original owner, a wealthy older gentleman from Florida, took very good care of it. He was in debt to the marina, and sold them this car to pay off part of that debt. For several years, it was kept in a carriage house where it stayed dry and clean, but with just enough moisture to keep the leather supple. When I purchased it in March of 2010, the car started up readily and didn’t need much work to make it road worthy. Over the past year and few months, I have had all the fluids flushed and replenished, as well as more-than-regular oil changes (every 500 miles or so). I have repair receipts showing that the transmission selector shaft seal was replaced and no longer leaks. Also the car has a new set of ignition wires, as well as a BRAND NEW full suspension system, including front shocks and springs, rear shocks and springs, ball joints, and upper control arms and bushings. A proper alignment was performed after this work as well, so the car steers and handles beautifully. This car has low mileage for its age; the odometer reading just over 57,000 miles. The odometer is not currently working, but I have only put about 2,000 miles on the car since I’ve owned it, so I would estimate the true mileage to be under 60,000. Cosmetically, this car is in good condition, showing only some rust on the driver’s side rocker panel and a few areas of chipped paint here and there, but nothing significant. All glass is free of chips or cracks, and the wiper blades have barely seen rain. One thing to note, as you might notice in the pictures, is that the panel below the driver’s side of the car has some dents in it, but this is seen more so when you are crouched down. The front grill also is slightly dented. The tinting on the rear windshield is starting to wear somewhat, and the rear driver’s side window is not working currently (switch problem, maybe?). The exhaust tailpipe surrounds are rusted through in some areas and the fog lights are not working. In addition, the climate system blowers are working but there is no heat or air conditioning. I believe the AC is completely disconnected. Also, the leather covered surround for the climate control unit needs to be reattached. The plastic anchors are damaged. Although all the fluid levels are good, several of the dummy lights on the dash are broken and stay lighted. This includes the oil level and wiper fluid level lights. The lamp failure light also comes on at times, though the lights are all working. The washer fluid pump no longer works. The engine in this Maserati is a 4.9 liter V8, which puts out approximately 285 horsepower, and is slightly boosted by the after-market cold air intake. This was custom-installed by the original owner, as well as another major upgrade. As many know, these cars had four Weber carburetors, which had to be synchronized yearly and sometimes rebuilt. However, during the 1990s, this car was upgraded to multi-point fuel injection, and has not needed any work since I have owned the car. My mechanic confirmed that both of these upgrades were very well done. It should also be noted that this car’s tires are in good condition, with at least a moderate amount of tread left, and the car passed NY State inspection about a month ago. On a final note, the interior of this car is in very good shape, with two-tone, full wood trim, and pumpkin-color, full leather upholstery. There are no rips or tears in the leather. The carpeting is in very good shape as well, and there is no rust on the floorboards. The Nakamichi cassette radio is missing some pieces of the faceplate. The radio functions but the cassette player needs some work. There is a matching amplifier in the trunk, and after-market front and rear speakers. Please note that eBay's listing system will not accept the VIN. If you want to do a Carfax check here is the number: ZAM330000GA005546 Also, I urge anyone who is seriously interested in buying this car to come and take it for a test drive and personal inspection, or at least to have it independently inspected by a local mechanic. There has to be at least two or three dozen mechanics within a mile or two of my home. I will be glad to help you select one that you can make arrangements with and I will be glad to drop it off for inspection. With this sale I will include the original owners manual and an electronic (PDF) copy of the repair manual. Overall, this car could use a little TLC, but runs and drives well and turns heads wherever it goes! Be sure to view this short video clip of the car being driven at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_CRU4viF9k I will not ship this vehicle. Any shipping must be arranged and paid for by the buyer. A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours, and the sale of the vehicle must be finalized within 10 days of the auction’s close (including payment in full, and pickup of vehicle).
