Vehicle Detail
Selling my 928 S4. I had to relist because ebay thinks it knows more about my car than I do. A little about the history of this car. It was registered in Kenner LA during Katrina, but Kenner did not flood, in fact metairie and kenner is where everyone from New Orleans sought refuge from the floods. The previous owner informed me that the insurance companies at the time were totaling everything registered in the area of Katrina and the original owner got paid full value for this car mint condition then sold it and maxed out his profit. In order to have it titled an inspection was required and the results of that was simply to have the abs brakes bled and serviced. My dad worked for USAA and taught me all about buying cars and what to look for years ago, particularly water damage. This car did not take on any water... otherwise I would not have purchased it. The ABS service was performed and at the time of sale to me we notorized everything for title, but I have not yet titled it. At present the title states flood water damage, after title it will state reconstructed. I have the paperwork ready for titling, but if I title it that will make the winning buyer the 4th owner instead of 3rd. So I will leave that up to the buyer to decide. Now for the actual problem with it... After I bought it I was driving on the interstate and the heater line popped off on me resulting in an external hairline crack on the driver side head. One of the prior owners performed the infamous heater core bypass and it apparently didnt hold up.. Unfortunately I found this out the hard way. So I bought a new head, and gaskets, tore down the top of motor, but then the 100+ degree summer temps kicked in and I lost interest due to 1. the heat, since I dont have a garage or a shop to work in 2. time constraints since its sitting in a friends driveway who is probably moving soon. 3. Im moving in 2-4 weeks myself... The car was running good even with the external cracked head, before I tore down the top motor. I have a demo video of it running and describing the crack prior to tearing it down. The crack was external on an oil jacket and if I tried to run it longer than 10 minutes oil would seep out and drip on the exhaust manifold directly below the crack and smoke from burnoff, but other than that it ran excellent. It comes with the new head and complete head kit gasket set including intake, exhaust and plenum gaskets for the mass airflow. I paid $750 for the head which has new valve seals and completely rebuilt by quality rebore in New Orleans. The gasket set was over $500 and if you want to have the passenger side head rebuilt everything you need is included as I only had the driver side head rebuilt. This is why I decided to sell it at this stage...You may want to take the time to do the otherside as well and do the engine compartment to your liking. I was going to powder coat the intake and valve covers so the intake is 90% torn down and ready for the powder coat shop and the new gaskets are included for that as well. I was going with black and white porsche lettering, you may want to go with silver or gray...or red...hell, purple... All the hard work is done, from here its all fun, if you are equipped... All you really need is 1 new fuel injector $65 at DC Automotive and the o rings and caps... 5$ each set, you will need 7. The interior is in good shape, no tears or holes, the tires are fuzion like new. I put the aero mirrors on but didnt connect the wiring because the wires are different coloring schemes and I wasnt sure how, plus it wasnt a big priority, but they were a pain in the ass to put on...The electric seatI believe is tied into that so its not working now but it was when I bought it. Electric sunroof works, headliner is excellent, carpet excellent, no windshield cracks and it has polished alloy cup rims...As you can see I cleaned out all the years of greasy goop below the intake sitting on top of the block... Trust me, you were going to want to do all this anyway so... Good luck bidding! I have all 9 volumes of the service manual in .pdf format... I will give you a copy.On Jul-11-11 at 21:32:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a link to the video I made prior to tearing down the top motor... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfoJYhYUwHYOn Jul-11-11 at 21:36:39 PDT, seller added the following information: It was a cold start after 2 or 3 months of not starting...
