Vehicle Detail

This is a 1976 Corvette that I bought several months ago with the intention of doing a frame off restoration on. Then I came across a 78 Corvette that was already up and running so decided to buy it and do a restoration some other time. This Corvette would be good for either parts or restore. It is the L48 model. Looks like the original color was a Chocolate Brown or what ever the Corvette Brown color was called that year. Black for the interior. The engine block number matches the vin number and the motor did turn over by hand so it is no locked up but would assume it will need a complete over haul as per the previous owner it had been sitting from some 15 years. The original transmission was stolen so the vehice DOES NOT HAVE A TRANSMISSION. Apparently the theves decided to jack the vehicle up on its side and use some sort of prop up under the left front fender and the left door. The hood is propped up in the photos due to a bar laying across the back which has a chain wrapped around the back of the eng. to support it due to no tranmission. The vehicle collaped down as the posts being used punched a hole in the top of the left fender and the left door which also shatterd the left door window. You can see the hole in the left door and the hole in the top of the left front fender. You can also see that I still have that portion of the fender that broke off. I door and fender can of course be repaired. The rest of the body panels look to be in very good condition and all of the panels align nice. The interior looks to be all there but of course will need complete redo. It does have PW and A/C. As noted already the left door glass is gone. Wheels and tires are in good shop and roll freely. The right rear brake caliper was broken off by the previous owner. It is still with the car. The frame does have rust out in that section of the frame right in front of the rear wheels as was normal for these cars. The rest of the frame did not look to bad and I would say that it could be repaired. I had purchased another 76 Corvette frame (auto) that had been involved in a wreck so the back rear frame rail is bent. I had planed to have this frame straighten at a frame shop and then us it to replace the frame on this one. It wanted the buyer can take this frame as part of the deal but I will not subtract from the purchase price if the buyer choices not to take the frame. I am not a Corvette expert but have been learning as much as I can about them. Known missing parts are the air cleaner, transmission, left headlamp bezel, left high beam bucket, and the spare tire carrier. I am not interested in parting out. Don't have the time. So save your emails requesting to purchase individual parts. I have a clear Indiana title (not salvage) that is in my name with no liens. The rear panel is just sitting on the vehicle for the photos. I do not have any keys for the vehicle. I had to take apart part of the steering col to unlock the steering wheel lock so I could move the vehicle around. I do have all of the parts for the steering col. including the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel. It does have the tilt steering col. with the telescoping steering wheel. Steering wheel is the vega model wheel that GM used in 1976 much to the displeasure of the Corvette World. Also this is the last year for the Stringray emblem on the sides, I believe. Look over the photos and ask questions. I will do my best to answer. Having never driven the vehicle I cannot say what works and what does not work. Per the previous owner it had been sitting for some 15 years maybe longer. If you are looking to put back out on the road I would plan on doing it right with a full on frame off restoration. I am only available for vehicle pickup on the weekend. thanks for looking. Hi, there has been some questions regarding the extra frame so adding this additional information regarding the frame. The extra frame seen laying on the ground in the photos was sold to me as a 1976 Vette frame which was an AT vehicle. I believe this information to be correct. Had it been a manual tranny vette I am sure I would have had to pay alot more. As it is I have $250.00 invested in the Frame along. However the frame does go with the sale of this vette if the buyer wants it. No extra cost. However I want to stress that if the buyer does not want the frame or does not have room or time to haul the frame it will not reduce the final purchase price of the vette. I am just considering the frame to be an extra bonus to the sale of this vette. Also note that the frame laying on the ground is damaged and will need to be straightened. The frame had been hit on the left rear frame rail and will need to be repaired. Other than that the frame is in very good condition with no rustout. Some of the body mount braces will need some attention. I do not have a title for this frame. If you know were a vin number is (if the vin is even stamped into the frame, I don't know) I will give you a bill of sale if needed. thanks
