Vehicle Detail

UP FOR AUCTION ~ FOR SALE This is a 1981 Trans Am with T-Tops (originally black and equipped with a 301 Turbo).... When I bought it in late 2007, it came equipped with a 400 cid, out of a '72 GTO that was completely rebuilt and balanced by Hood's Performance of West Plains, MO. The heads (7J2) were ported, polished and a 3 angle valve job....2.11 & 1.77 valves. Compression was set at 9:1. The cam is a Lunati Bracket Master II with a 292 duration and 490 lift and pistons are forged. The dyno showed 406 hp and 540 lb ft torque. It also had newer exhaust with Hedman headers, a crossover and free-flowing mufflers, The automatic tranny has a B&M 2500 stall and the Stage 3 Shift Kit. The 1-2 shifts hard, the 2-3 is fast but not real hard. The front suspension had also been rebuilt and coil springs replaced. The whole drivetrain only had 8,000 miles. Although the mechanical elements were fairly new when I purchased it, the interior needed to be replaced and cosmetic resto was needed. After I purchased it, I changed out the front clip because I didn't like the '81 style...Now it has a 1978 front clip, and she is the prettiest shade of blue (only offered in 1978) with silver custom decals and lettering. Resto on the body include cutting out and patching all rusted areas (floor pans, quarter panels, and trunk. Replaced brakes, windshield and all weather-stripping, and interior including installing new carpet, door panels, dash pad, package tray, console and jockey box, and a refurbished 8-Track Stereo (working). Seats were replaced with ones out of a '78 and are in fair condition for age. New tires were also put on her. As I went completely through the car in 2008, many parts were replaced...too many to list. The car runs excellent and isn't really that racy. She has a noticeable rump in the idle but nothing ridiculous. It is easily a driver, and I have put only about 2,000 miles on it to date. The negatives: The paint has some minor flaws; the car has factory A/C but no evaporator or compressor, and the brakes are a little soft the first time you hit the pedal, seats are in fair condition for their age.
