....Even though she Looks a bit like a $150,000.00 Classic Racing Shelby (as it Should) as it was heavily Inspired by the 1967 or 1968 SHELBY GT 500 EXP Mustang (..The EXP is Quite Possibly the "Rarest of All" SHELBY GT 500 Mustang's !!, as SHELBY only Built "FOUR" ! ! ). This Magnificent FORD Mustang Coupe has 1967/ 68 SHELBY GT 500 Mustang style body parts as well as a 1967 / 68 ELEANOR "Hi Rise" Hood Bubble Scoop & it even has a fairly "One Off" ~Custom / Fabricated Very ~SHELBY Influence rear Spoiler etc.(...& this is something I would bet you will just not find on another 1970 GT 500 EXP tribute Coupe, as for the most part we had to Custom adapt & fabricate it ourselves ).. If you have been looking for something like this I can tell you this is a "Very One Off Classic".... We recently lost our storage when the owners of our storage building sold it recently, so I have priced this car down to where not everyone ..But, I feel Most people that have been saving for a Great Fun car like this can still comfortably Financially get into this Wonderful Car ! (Reserve is "Believe it or Not"...Only about 1/10th the above amount !.... Well over 30% below What I have seen much less extensively rebuilt & restored Originally California Documented Mustangs and Much less SHELBY GT 500 EXP Inspired Mustang Coupes selling for ....& it's even well under what many new Econo etc & even Many korean cars sell for Out The Door these days ....(some kind of car you really didn't want anyway) ...cars like that & really like most any New Car unfortunately will be worth about zip (almost nothing) in just a few short years! & Make No Mistake ...YES ! (compared to other 1969 & 1970 Mustangs) ...Like Chip Foose & most other Custom car designer Greats likes to do with there cars ... we applied The "California Custom Street Rod look" to the body a little (we cleaned up the body lines a little to help it look a little more like a 67 SHELBY GT 500 EXP (IE) we Cleaned up the lines of the car by deleting a lot of the side reflectors & all of the "Ma & Pa" style side running lights etc etc. (It was a TON of Extra Work but that is why the lines on this car look So Clean & So GREAT (& I think without Question...So Much More AGGRESSIVE ...than your average Mustang ! !) * Important * This is an ORIGINAL Made in "San Jose, CALIFORNIA" Mustang ! ! ! ! That has always been owned and registered in Southern California since it was New !! It even has it's original 1970 First Year of the California "Blue" License Plates ! Also, this was an Original FORD FACTORY "Air Condition" Option car, Original "302" CID Factory Option V8 engine ! with the Optional same HUGE extra Wide Radiator (Factory Option Oversize) Radiator as you would get with 1968 "BIG BLOCK ..Air Conditioned "S" Code Mustang (THE BIGGEST dimension width RADIATOR I believe FORD ever put in a1964- 1970 Factory Production Mustangs !!!! I believe the 52321 is most likely 152321 as this like all 1960-70's cars has a 5 digit odometer display (which is still very low miles for a Vintage 1970 Classic Car)..Also, Keep in mind this a Original Always in "Southern California" Very Relatively Rust Free Car with overall Great Very Solid Floor Boards etc ...for a Mustang Collector ...It just does not get much better than that ! This is a Great Find as this came from FORD with a Great "302" V8, With Fords Wonderful C-4 Cruise-A Matic Auto Trans, "DISC" BRAKES with Power Assisted Dual Chamber Master Cylinder, it left the FORD factory with Original Factory "Air Conditioning" (Original Ford Factory A/C looks to be ~all there. but, at a minimum will need to be checked over and recharged etc., details below), & YES ! she also has Factory FORD "Power Steering", Factory FORD High Back Bucket Seats & This last year we have been Restoring this Beauty (as listed below) & have added Many SHELBY like & ELEANOR like Upgrades & it's Exact SHELBY LeManns Stripping etc etc ! * Prior to when we started our Restoration (as detailed below) This Wonderful Car has only really had two Prior families that owned Her since she was originally purchased in 1970 !!!... as the whole time we have owned this last year, she has been in a state of restoration. IMPORTANT.....PLEASE NOTE: * * * When I purchased this car the Prior Owner said they had rebuilt the engine fairly recently. When my mechanic & I recently installed the ALLOY "SHELBY" style Roller Rocker style High Lift Valve Covers... The Inside of the Engine Looked Very New ! I have included in the auction pictures (both) Rt & Lt valve area pictures to Show all interested parties just how GREAT , Clean & deposit free the Inside of the engine looks !!! ...My Mechanic said everything looked AMAZING ! & also he felt all of the Engine Rebuilding Work work was without question Professionally Done...My Mechanic & just installed the rebuilt Power steering Power Control valve, & Power steering RAM Cylinder... While we were under the car today we looking around my mechanic happened to notice that the underside of the engine also looked to be recently rebuilt and more importantly on several of the engines freeze plugs (under the car on the Engines Main Block & Cylinder Heads etc ) there were several Temperature sensing metal tags (That engine rebuilding centers in recent years put on the engines they rebuild to be able to tell if someone has Ever overheated the engine (they do this to help them void the engine warrantee, if that had ever happened)...as If the metal tag gets too hot it would void the warrantee.. The big point here is "YES" without question my Mechanic felt this definitely confirmed that the engine has been Professionally rebuilt recently & what the Original Owner stated about the engine being Rebuilt & that this appears to be a fairly LOW HOUR / Low MILEAGE Rebuilt "302" V8 Engine. My Mechanic said I should include these pictures in the auction as... "He felt that with all of the Rebuilding Facilities Freeze Plug temperature sensor indicators & the overall Amazing internal deposit free cleaness of the internal engine this Confirmed that the engine has had fairly low hours & Miles since all the Engine Rebuild was preformed by the original owner * * * Also, I looked this car all over and under and it is one of the straighter (it still has all of it's Original unitized Frame, Roof, Inner Fender panels, Trunk panels & Quarter panels etc just as it came from Ford in 1970) & is Definitely one of the straighter & More relatively Rust Free Mustangs My Mechanic & I have Ever seen ! (Which is saying something as I have worked for Ford as an Engineer in the 1960's when these Classic Mustangs were Built & have restored & owned Many Mustangs over the past 4 decades !) So I can tell you... Though not a Museum piece this is Very Beautiful & "This is indeed a Very Rare & Wonderful Find and she has Great Bones" ! & She has nearly all of the Really Desirable Accessory & Options (Power Assisted Dual system Master cylinder, DISC Brakes , Air Conditioning, Power Steering, First Year High back Bucket seats etc that could be ordered that year !!! etc.) Please Note * * "California is the Home of the Most Relatively "Rust Free", Desirable, & Best Preserved Classic cars that money can buy" ! Temperatures in our area typically run a Very stable & mild 50 lows thru high 70's, the Greater Majority (nearly all) of the year. Typically Humidity here is about ~Zip as well as ~Zip rainfall is Many years almost Non-Existant ! ...Which explains why cars from this area are the Most "Rust Free" Most Pampered Classic Automobiles Money can buy & typically bring a 50% to 100% Price or More Premium for just that reason !!!) ......We Californian's Love Our Classic cars ! This Wonderful Vehicle was Built Right Here in Sunny "San Jose, California" and has been registered here in Southern, California it's Whole Life! This beauty started life right here in Southern California, in about 1975 it was bought by the first owners family & she was owned it every since then & she stayed in the next family from a father to his son then to after several more years it was given to the Original Owners Grandson a little later the Grandson had two children back to back & his wife wanted a New SUV (as it was easier than a coupe with 2 baby seats etc..Therefore I was finally able to purchase this Beauty from the family this last year and have spent this last year cosmetically etc. restoring this Wonderful Classic (as Extensively detailed below.) .. Luckily much of the time the car's life it remained "in storage" in Southern Calif at the grandsons Parents Home. Over the last year since I purchased it & have spent this last year cosmetically Restoring & Extensively Upgrading this Wonderful Classic Automobile as listed & detailed below. & YES ! ...It still has it's "Original 1970 California "Blue" License Plate" from when Purchased here in 1970 !... This is a Very Straight Car & appears to have all of her Original Factory FORD Body panels & her Original floorboard panels feel Very SOLID & overall Look GREAT ! & most all her interior Metal parts etc. are also in Great shape as well. I LOVE a Great Classic that looks a bit like a $150,000.00 SHELBY RACE Car yet again...it's Engine for the most part is "Perfectly Box Stock" & Wonderfully Reliable! and particularly with it's fairly recent engine rebuilding work etc this Beauty should be just about as Reliable as this Wonderful Car was when it first left the San Jose, California Ford Assembly Line in 1970 !!! ** It's just my humble opinion...but, Of all the years of the Classic Mustangs I think the "More Aggressive" 1970 Mustang Hard Top Coupes lines (particularly around the roof & rear quarter body lines) on this Delightful Car reminds me quite a little bit of a 69 Camaro.** ...Which I feel is Strangely Significant as well as Ironic...as that was about the Very Peak of the Muscle Car Era for both Chevy & FORD & '69 was the very last year of the Truly Great Classic Camero's and '70 the very Last Year of the Truly Great Classic Mustangs as well. ****PLEASE NOTE: This Vintage Classic Mustang is for local pick up I will be glad to assist your transporter company from this end & if you live Over Seas I will personally deliver this Wonderful car to any Int Shipper in the Los Angeles Harbor Area !!! "The Very Best of all Worlds"... 1960's "Shelby Race car like Looks" but with one of the Best & Most sought after, Reliable & Bullet Proof V8 engines V8 FORD ever built ! ....The Ford "302" V8 ( 5.0 Liter V8) has been in production for about 40 years (since 1968) ! ! ! ! ! This may be Fords Most Popular V8 of ALL TIME ! & She still has her "Bullet Proof" Original Ford C-4 Transmission ! & this car has the Biggest Dimension Optional Radiator You could get in a 1964 thru 1970 Mustang !!! PLEASE NOTE: The Floorboards on this car look overall "GREAT" !...Far better than even most any California Mustangs I have ever seen ! ! ! This car has a current Clean California Title (& Yes it is in my Name) & has Current Insurance (Full Coverage SAFECO Classic car Ins. is only about 150 dollars a year! for full coverage ! ! ). She has only had two Prior families that owned this Wonderful Car Prior to our Restoration that we are just now Finishing up...Therefore.. My Mechanic said that with any luck it would not take too much to get the A/C going again if that is something you would want to do.Also, It has had a Updated Mustang aftermarket Stereo/Casset/AM FM Radio installed over the years... the Good news is: if you want to get a new stereo unit the mount and most of the wire loom should still be in there & ready for a new Updated radio which should save you some money. For cosmetic reasons I deleted the back packing tray speakers (so that that area of the interior looks like it did when it left the FORD Factory in 1970.... Please Note: 1964 thru 1970 Classic Mustangs are considered by Most collectors to be of the "By Far the Very Most Desirable & Collectable Years of Vintage Mustangs" & the Great thing about this particular year is: Ford had some of the Very Best Performance engines ever in 1969 & 1970 & therefore, released Many Extensively Upgraded High Performance Braking handling etc features this 69 & 70 year that Enhance the cars Braking, High Speed Handling, (Most people feel the 69 & 70 is about "The Very Most Aggressive of all Mustangs" for many reasons ...You can get 10" wide rims & 275 + width ( possibly even 295) Width tires on the rear of a 69 or 70 Mustang without altering anything, I have heard)....& You can only typically get about 7" wide rim with a 205 tire on the rear of a 1964, 65 & 66 Mustang ! Mustangs have been used for many Feature Motion pictures (IE), "ELEANOR", in "Gone in 60 seconds", "Fast & the Furious III" & Steve McQueen's World Famous "Bullet" Movie! James Bonds (007s) Gold Finger etc. The Ford Mustang is "America's all time Favorite Performance Sports Coupe" ! & best of all it is "Family" & or "Double Date" Friendly ! "FUN to Drive" & & most everyone seems to agree these 70s are Nothing short of "Breath-Taking" to Look At ! & most people feel it is one of the Most Aggressive Classic Mustangs ever Built, Just Ask Dan Gurney or Mickey Thomson ... Especially a Stunning Shelby GT 500 LeManns Stripe Trim & with her ELEANOR Hood, HUGE 19" X 8" High Quality Super WIDE FORGED "ALLOY" Wheels, & GT MUSTANG Racing Fuel Cap etc. * Classic Mustangs are ..."A Party on Wheels where-ever you go" ! * *The Ford Mustang is considered by nearly All Automotive Experts & Enthusiasts to be "The Most Significant Sports Car of All Time"!! A Great Investment you can enjoy, that should go up and up in value every year (the past 10 years these have probably more than doubled in value !) & the value of a Nice Classic Mustang Hard Top with Shelby some appearance upgrades etc like this seem to be going up Particularly Fast in recent years ! ...as Collectors seem to revere a Classic Mustang as they are easy & relatively Very Reasonable to Maintain ...Which continues to help these Classic Mustangs to Hold there Value Far More than Most other Classic cars out there ! ....In comparison, Go out and buy a new car and see what happens to your investment dollars (As Most new cars in 5 years are worth a very small percentage of their original purchased price)! ...a New Lexus 400 which Currently costs about $50,000.00 + a few years later are selling for just a couple grand (it has become the New disposable car) .. good luck trying to keep one of those new car gadgits & things alive as they are just "Way too electronic" & "Way too Complex" and gradually become "Way to Expensive to attempt to maintain" after a just a few short years...Trust me Simpler is always Easier & Far Less Expensive to Maintain ! * * RESTORATION DETAILS * * This Magnificent Ride's has been in a state of restoration over the past year as detailed below: Her Interior & Exterior has just been cosmetically restored as detailed below... & WOW ....I think she looks GREAT ! We have been very busy here this week finishing up the last few details. As mentioned earlier my mechanic and I have been going thru the Power Steering System ...We had the following "Completely Rebuilt" with All New Bushings, Seals etc etc (the Original FORD items were Pretty Much "Re-Manufactured") By "C J" AUTOMOTIVE they are about the Best & Largest Power Steering & Rack & Pinion Re-builder & Re-Manufacture that I know of in the Los Angeles, California area (& they kind of specialize in Vintage and Classic cars... They Totally Rebuilt the 1) The Power Steering "Control Valve" was "Completely Rebuilt" 2) the Power Steering "Power RAM" Hydrolic Cylinder was also "Completely Rebuilt". We also purchased Two (BOTH) : Power Steering "High Pressure Hoses" & the System Works AMAZING ! .......Also, I keep forgetting to mention...When Ford Introduced the NEW 2005 Mustang Built from 2005 thru 2009...(The Nice Looking one that looked far better than the Current 2010 Mustangs).. That Body style Ford used the 1969 & 1970 Mustang to influence much of the styling on that car Particularly the Aggressive Grill & Tail lights etc were very closely followed on those cars...As Always ...."Imitation has always been the most sincere form of flattery" ! Also, we painted much of this Beauties interior metal parts etc etc with Semi Flat Black (what most Concourse Shops use this as it looks a lot like what Ford Used originally on their Cars). I had a little Exact color match... touch up done today on a small area of the roof & the color looks Perfect (It should as I used the same shop & same painter that painted the car originally), in a couple of weeks when the paint has cured completely the small area can be color sanded a little & blended in & polished 100% at a detail shop. Also, In the last addition when I was mentioning all of the FORD Restoration Window / drip rail / door Rubber weather stripping seal etc & all of the Window Felt Guides etc etc . I just now remembered the other pieces I forgot to mention...(as I knew I was forgetting something) ...Anyway, On the right and left side door Glass where the quarter glass meets we replaced both of the long vertical rubber window seals where these four windows meet at the door opening just ahead of the side Quarter Glass To the best of my knowledge this is what we have done over this last year I have been restoring her... No More & No Less. There are probably many more things that are New here as well but this is the best I could think of off the top of my head. & I can tell you I think She Looks Great ! Not listed in the above list of in this cars restoration items & Also, Not shown in any of this cars exterior pictures exceipt the next picture below...(I am sorry it was a little dark when I took the pictures in my Garage this evening but the Original FORD windshield Stainless Trim is ALL there and It looks GREAT ! ) My Mechanic and I just put ALL Newly Cleaned and Re-polished & Just Installed "Stainless Steel Windshield Trim" ..& YES ! ALL SIX Pieces are ORIGINAL 1970 "FORD" ..."Stainless Steel" Windshield Trim !!! Also, we installed All of the Rubber Weather Stripping Rubber Seals that runs from the front doors lower hinge all the way over up the door's front edge & over the top of the wind-wing, then over the top of the entire door glass and then all the way past the rear seats quarter glass & all the way back down to the base of the roof & beyond. This was done with "The Real Deal" * "GENUINE FORD Licensed Restoration Rubber Seal Material" (hands Down the Best seal like this I have ever seen to date!) & this was done on Both the Right and left sides of the car.... Also, we added a new done light bezel Chrome Ring, All Brand New Door Jam Rubber Bumpers as well as All New Hood rubber bumpers that run along the sides of the hood & Fenders etc. & all Brand New left & Right Door Lock lift buttons and sorround Bezels etc. ,We also put ALL Brand New left & Right door... Inner & Outer Door Glass window Felt Seal Guides & Rear right & Left Rear seat Glass...Inner & Outer Rear Quarter Glass window Felt Seal Guides ...etc., etc Anyway, I don't think this was mentioned above in the Restoration details ...& I am sure there a ~Zillion other things I forgot to mention as well. PLEASE NOTE: This is Not a Museum Piece, Not a Concourse car & Not a "Trailer Queen" etc. Show car etc..it was Never intended to be a 100% perfect car etc ...So if that is what you are looking for a please look else where. This Car Starts Quick , Runs Very Well & Sounds Great ! & does not appear smoke at all ! She was intended mainly to be a FUN, FUN, FUN Driving car & Not intended to be any ones "Trailer Queen" show car or Museum display car etc, etc . * * This is a Great Car for you and Your Friends and Family to just take out and Have FUN with !!!! Also, please do not bid on this car if your intent is just to resale it for a TON More Money as these arrangements can get very complicated at best & I do not want or need to get in the middle of someones "pipe dream, & or want a be deal" that goes bad....If you do not have the money in hand to make this deal at this time Please do not bid on this item...& Please just buy this Wonderful Classic Tribute Mustang because you want her ...Why should life be more complicated than that? * * * PLEASE NOTE: this Cars "ORIGINAL" floor board pans look Great Are Very Solid & in Very AMAZING Condition !!!...Even the majority of this cars sound proofing pads are in very nice original shape (this is really rare to see a car of this Stunning Cars Vintage & I feel really helps show just how little used this car was over the years we was able to see everything before interior carpets re-assembly. The Interior doors, Interior Quarter Panels, dash board etc were finished to "Original" Satin Black finish. Most of the Visual interior Materials Interior are Brand new and were just completed ! Again...The ORIGINAL Floorboards on this car look GREAT !...Far Better than most any Calif Mustangs I have seen ! ! ! Again, This Classic is Not a Museum Piece, Not intended to be a 100% Perfect car & Not intended to be a Show car as it was always intended to be a FUN Driving car ...Therefore She is "Not a Trailer Queen"..as very few things in life are really as perfect as people think (or delude themselves & their ego) into thinking they are...Please Note: If you want a 100% PERFECT car please look else where .... to give you some perspective to do a Complete frame off ground up restoration on most classic cars can cost (Not including the Original Purchase price of the car !) it cost about $40,000.00 to $80,000.00 just for the Labor & Parts to have a shop do something like that ...& unfortunately then it is only perfect until you start to use the car..(The Good News Is this is a Unitized body car so it is not really necessary to do all of the frame off restoration etc... as the frame does not have to come off the body to do most any kind of repairs & upgrades etc etc etc etc. like you would with a Pre Unitized 1930's 40's 50's body style car...Just one morereason why these Mustangs are SOOOooo Great ! Like I always do when I am completing one of my Cars I had My Vintage Car Alignment Shop Check over the Alignment & all of the front end etc Looked over.....They said everything looked good but they said it may be a good idea to have Both the Right & Left "Lower Control Arm Bushings " Replaced...FEAR NOT ! ...I had this done all Completed For You last week & I can tell you this Car Really Drives GREAT now ! I also have a Brand New in the BOX set of "FORD RACING" 302 "BOSS" ALLOY Valve Covers (I believe they are kind of a reproduction of the "BOSS 302" Valve covers that FORD RACING used on their factory BOSS 302 Race Cars)... they are shaped a bit like the Big Block FORD RACING "FE" 427 SHELBY Le Manns 427 A.C. COBRA ALLOY Valve Covers (these BOSS Valve Covers list for about $350 at least that is what I have seen these selling for in a couple of shops in my area)... If the Winning Bidder would rather have this set up instead of the Ford Racing "MOTOSPORT" ALLOY Valve covers that are already on the car I will swap them (Your Choice, one or the other set) once funding is completed if you give me a couple of days at the end of the auction to install them for you. I have to tell you...Either set is BEAUTIFUL (STUNNING) ! * Again..."You could Own this Wonderful Classic Beauty for a relatively Small Fraction of what some real deal Shelbys sell for" ! * Even the Real Deal 1960's Race SHELBY GT 350 & GT 500 etc Mustangs when they were brand new back in the 1960's were typically not perfect (like a Rolls Royce or something) ..."As They were intended to be a driving mans car !...& typically many Original Shelbys had many body waves and devits etc. (Particularly on the Shelby fiberglass body parts). Even though the paint is New May 2011 & as you should be able to tell.. I think she looks very nice & is probably as nice a paint job as most new Mustangs were back in the 1960s ....Again, as it is right out of the paint booth & has not been color sanded & Polished detailed etc....as I never do that with my cars as it typically Drastically Reduces the Life Span & the Protective Qualities of the paint therefore without dialing in the paint a little etc ...understandably it is not 100% PERFECT as the majority of a perfect paint finish happens long after the car is painted in a detail shop etc.. However she has a Very Good Grade Quality Eurthane Paint & should outlast a 1960's Factory paint job about 2 to 1 just because it is a SUPERIOR Grade of Paint & should have FAR Greater Gloss retention & Therefore, should also require a lot Less Waxing & Polishing Maintenance for just that reason. I would conservatively Rate the paint work on this car is about a 8+ out of 10....( to give you some perspective ...a 100% PERFECT SHELBY LeManns Stripped paint job like this In a Quality Eurthane finish like this has with Blocking & color sanded etc Could cost you about $14,000.00 for just the paint alone.. Which to me would be a total Waste of money for a car you intended to use as a Street Driving Car...My Friends & I think this Wonderful Car Looks...(So in my book a 8/10 is just GREAT !... However, I am sure somewhere out there is someone does not know enough to appreciate the Magnificent Auctomolie you are seeing here ....that could be "nit picky" enough that could feel there is personality (IE) some small & or minor parking lot impressions?? etc. ???
