OKAY GUYS, TIME IS UP FOR ME, CAR HAS TO GO. RESERVE IS SET AT $12,900, OR BUY IT NOW AT $14,900. I HAD THIS CAR SOLD A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR HIGHER MONEY, BUT BUYERS WERE NOT ABLE TO CLOSE THE DEAL, SO I HAVE DROPPED THE PRICE AND RESERVE AND IT MUST GO THIS SUNDAY NIGHT OR SOONER. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AUCTION AS THERE IS LOTS OF INFO ON THIS VERY COOL WAGON.Up for auction here is this very unique 1967 Ford Country Sedan station wagon as documented by the framed Elite Marti Report, included with the car. If you love vintage wagons like I do, then you will appreciate how unique this car is. Back in 1967, most folks looking to buy a loaded full size Ford wagon, would have opted for the plush, wood sided Country Squire, as opposed to the mid-line Country Sedan or the budget priced Ranch Wagon. However in this case, this mid-line Country Sedan has been equipped like a high end Country Squire, including the optional Deluxe Country Squire upgraded interior. On the outside, no woodgrain, just the deluxe trim package and single tone paint, with silver accent color below the lower moldings, giving the car a clean, contemporary look. It was then immediately shipped to Tijuana Ford Auto-Truck, just over the Mexican border, south of San Diego, California. THIS IS A FACTORY EXPORT CAR, as it's DSO 93 indicates, one of just 81 Country Sedans exported in '67. On the Marti Report, it also indicates heavy duty frame and heave duty export suspension. It was bought new on 4/23/67 by Jose (Pepe)Cruz de Daher Yarahaun for himself and his family. It was his pride and joy, kept protected in a private carport and used sparingly until his passing. In 1992 the car was given to his wife Alicia Malof de Daher. She kept it until 2004 when it was sold to a family friend, Pedro Valazquez Castillo who had long admired the wagon. In 2005, Pedro had the car re-painted in it's original factory color, Sauterne Gold Metallic, as the original Ford enamel had aged and lost it's luster and acquired some door dings along the way. In 2007, Pedro decided he needed to sell the car, so the wagon ended up in California where relatives of his sold it for him. It was bought by vintage car enthusiast Patrick Smith of Ft Smith, Arkansas. Pat kept the car till 4/2010, driving it just 250 miles total, entering it in car shows and parades. He decided to sell as he was just not using it as much. And that is where I come in, purchasing the car at that time. A friend of mine had actually bought the car from Pat, but when he showed me pictures of it, I had to have it and immediately bought it from him before he ever saw it in person. And so I had the car professionally transported from Pat's house to my home here in beautiful Vermont where it has been in my possession and care since, residing in my climate controlled garage, warm and toasty in the winter, driven only on dry summer days. And now with an upcoming cross country move in our sights, I have to part with this wonderful car to help with expenses. Isn't that always the way? PAINT & BODY - As a car painter myself for 30 years, I can see this wagon was done in a two-stage urethane style paint job, and buffed. It was done around 2005. The end result looks like a quality factory finish, not a mirror flat show finish, but rather a deep luster and reflective shine, certainly superior to original. There is no evidence of panel replacement or major damage. The car retains all it's original sheetmetal, always being in salt-free western and southern climates. It lead an easy life. The doors shut with a solid "thud" as they did in those days. The tailgate is the two-way "Magic Gate" that opens like a traditional door and like a truck tailgate, very cool engineering. The rear bumper features two sturdy foot steps to give access to the optional factory roof mounted luggage rack. There is some very slight surface rust along the insides of the door jamb seams that you really have to look for, fairly normal stuff, even for a western car. I've looked this car over closely. That's all I can find. There are a very few small chips in the paint and one very small ding in the left front fender, above the molding. The color, although Ford calls it Sauterne Gold Metallic, is really more of a silver-green metallic, with the portions below the lower moldings, done in a satin silver for a subtle two-tone, quite attractive in this bodystyle. I have added a 1/16" tape pinstripe to the upper portions of the fenders, quarters, tailgate and on the hood, following bodylines, as well as a 1/4" tape stripe in the lower moldings where it is normally a black stripe. I thought it gave it just a little "pop" without going crazy. They can easily be removed. Speaking of bodystyles, the '67 had a unique front end and was the last year of the "stacked headlights." It had a great combination of angles and curves and is proportioned just right, a true testimate to a great design. EXTERIOR CHROME / TRIM - Both front and rear bumpers were re-plated in '05 when the car was painted and still look really nice. The rest of the original chrome has some minor age, but still looks nice. The remainder of the stainless and aluminum are original and in nicely preserved condition. There are some minor dings in the thin factory bodyside moldings. But overall, the trim looks quite good on the car. UNDERSIDE - Because this car has never seen salt or been used in harsh climate regions, the underside is completely rust-free and has it's original floorboards and original inside panels and factory undercoating, just as it left the factory in 1967. It could be pressure washed and detailed if you were so inclined. INTERIOR - As mentioned, this Country Sedan was ordered with the deluxe Country Squire interior. It is factory original from headliner to carpet and in amazingly preserved condition. It's hard to believe it's 44 years old. Upholstery is still supple and seats supportive, slight wear on the driver's side carpet where you rest your foot. This car also features the dual side facing jump seats in the "way back." To my knowledge was a Ford exclusive, one of many of Ford's "better ideas" as they referred to them back then. Kids love them. Heck, I love them. There are eight seat belts as well as the optional shoulder harnesses for the six way power front bench seat. The color scheme complements the exterior perfectly with a two-tone light green metallic / dark ivy green metallic full vinyl upholstery. The middle seat can fold flat, as well as the jump seats to make a FULL FLAT FLOOR capable of hauling 4 x 8 sheets of plywood. You will be the envy of everybody coming out of Home Depot. I know I am on the occasional trip there, about an hour away. There are some light scuffs in the metal painted floor sections from normal use. The original bias ply spare is still in place on the original wheel and looks virtually new. No wonder these wonderful cars were the staple of the American family for decades. DRIVETRAIN - Engine, compartment and underside of hood were all professionally detailed and painted last winter, looks very nice under there. Factory equipped with the bulletproof "Z" code 390 cubic inch big block, 4 barrel Autolite carb (with orig tag), backed up the heavy duty C6 Select Shift Cruise-o-Matic auto trans. It all hits the pavement through a 3.00 to 1 heavy duty Ford 9" standard open rear end. I do not know if the engine has been rebuilt. I did have the valve covers off and the valvetrain is very clean as was the insides of the covers. I was told by Pat Smith, the former owner that the under 27,000 miles showing was original and that is how he advertised the car when I bought it in 2010. However he had no documentation to verify this, so I make no such claims. She runs strong, idles smooth, does not smoke and with a full 2 1/2" Flowmaster dual exhaust system, exiting just behind the rear wheels, sounds really nice, just the perfect tone to let you know there are 315 horses under that hood, but not overly loud. The C6 shifts smooth and proper as Ford intended. Rear end is nice and quiet. DRIVING IMPRESSIONS - This is a stock drivetrain, not a dragstrip queen. That being said, the 390 4V has ample power to move this big girl down the road with authority and confidence. The Ford big block delivers effortless acceleration, with 315 horsepower on board, shifting just right, not hard, not mushy. The exhaust note is the perfect compliment for heading to the grocery store, or just cruising the backroads. Turn on the factory AM-FM radio and enjoy "Hi-Fidelity" 1967 style. It works well for it's day. Keep in mind FM radio in '67 was not very popular, making this original radio pretty rare. This wagon has an amazing amount of documented "modern" conveniences that make driving a pleasure on a warm summer day with the family, not the least of which is the ICE COLD FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING. The suspension is factory heavy duty, which includes larger springs and shocks and anti-sway bar and HUGE power front disc brakes. Typical of these old Fords, the brakes can be a little "grabby" when you push hard on the pedal. But they do work well. Front end feels tight and solid. The power steering is the typical over assisted 1960's vintage style. You can one-finger the wheel while parallel parking. The ride is smooth and comfortable, a real pleasure cruiser. Front shocks are new Monroe Gas-Matics, rears are new Monroe Air-adjustable units. For a large, heavy car, she handles respectably well, just don't take her auto-crossing! As the Elite Marti Report indicates, this wagon is loaded with factory and dealer options. I have never seen another Ford wagon equipped like it.FACTORY OPTIONS -390 4V / 315HP C6 Auto TransAir Conditioning - Blows ColdDeluxe Trim Group - Adds add'l trim moldings to exteriorCountry Squire Interior - Upgraded from standard Country Sedan interiorConvenience Control Panel - Features switches for power windows and locks, window lock-out and for warning lights for Door Ajar, Seat Belts, Low Fuel and Parking BrakeVisibility Group - Left Remote Mirror, right side mirrorLuggage RackPower Rear Window - works with dash mounted switch or key in tailgatePower Side Windows - can be operated from each door or Convenience Control PanelPower 6 Way Bench SeatPower Door LocksPower Front Disc BrakesPower SteeringFingertip Speed ControlAM-FM Radio w/ Rear SpeakerTinted GlassDeluxe Seat Belts w/ Front Shoulder HarnessesDeluxe Full WheelcoversHeavy Duty Export SuspensionHeavy Duty FrameAccessory PackagingDEALER INSTALLED OPTIONS - Front Door Map PocketsRotunda Underdash Tissue DispenserFront Seat HeadrestsDoor Edge GuardsSide Window Rain VisorsFull Width Floor Mats - These are the correct orig mats w/ Ford part numbersBack Up Warning Alert - Mounted below right rear taillight, not sure if it works, probably beeps when car is in reverse, wire has been cut, but interesting item.Windshield Mounted Compass - I actually added this, but it's a very cool 1960's vintage Taylor compass and it works, original compass would have been a Rotunda. I will accept cash in person, personal or bank certified check or bank to bank wire transfer. However, car will not be released until all funds are cleared into my bank. Vermont, like several states does not issue titles on vehicles 15 years or older. It is legally registered, inspected and insured through Hagerty in my name. You will get the current registration, signed off by me and a Bill of Sale. Do not confuse this with a car with no title. Check with your local DMV and see for yourself. This car is legal and will not be a problem to register in any state or country. Transport is owner's responsibility. You are welcome to inspect yourself or have someone view it for you. I will assist in any way I can. FINAL THOUGHTS - I know there is alot of info here, but this is alot of car. I have tried to cover all the bases, but have probably missed something. The car is 44 years old. It is not perfect, do not expect a trailered show queen, just a very sweet old girl. It has been used, but cared for all it's life. A beautiful driver that is for the most part an original car that has had a quality paint job and the engine detailed. This is NOT a restored car. It is really fun to drive and turns heads and draws admiring stares, smiles and stories wherever you go. I will be happy to go over the car on the phone or in person. To be fair, please don't ask me to reveal my reserve. Feel free to bid what you are comfortable with. This is a very rare wagon that would be extremely difficult find another like it. Just give me a call and good luck. Brent 802 485-7411 9am - 10pm EDT. On Jul-07-11 at 05:52:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi Guys, It's Thursday morning. I just checked the progress on the bidding to see it is at $10,600. As mentioned, the reserve is set at $12,900, so just $2300 seperates this car from having the reserve lifted. If the reserve is met, the BIN price disappears and the car will sell to the highest bidder, regardless of the price. In previous times I have listed, it actually bid higher than my BIN price, but did not hit the reserve. And in fact it was sold 2 seperate times late last year, and deals fell through. So this go-round, as much as I'd love to keep her, I do hope you will see this is alot of car for the money and would be impossible to duplicate for the price I'm asking. So good luck. Brent
