Vehicle Detail
1967 Chevy Impala SS 2 DR Sport Coupe. Grenada Gold Exterior, black interior, black vinyl top. It has a recently reworked (from short block) Chevy big block 454 2 bolt main engine standard bore (less than 15 miles on it) with a very lumpy hydraulic flat tappet cam (comp cams- can't find the card sorry). The heads were reworked with new springs, valve seals, guides, and the large diameter guide rods with stock stamped steel rocker arms. Installed a high flow oil pump, rear main seal, reverse rotation water pump, serpentine belt drive, timing chain cover gasket, high output alternator, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold, Demon 750 cfm mechanical secondary carb with pressure guage and filter, Carter mechanical fuel pump, MSD 7AL ignition system, E3 spark plugs, 8.5mm MSD plug wires, Headman Jet Hot ceramic coated long tube headers. Dual Jegs electric fans do the cooling. The transmission was rebuilt locally at a transmission Shop and is a Turbo 400 Automatic. A TCI Saturday Night Special torque converter was installed. New items installed on the car: Gas tank, sending unit, gas tank straps, shocks front and rear, McCaughey's Font disc break kit, upper and lower A arm bushings, front springs, ball joints and drive shaft u-joints, brake lines front and rear, Jegs battery relocation box for trunk, battery, belt, radiator hoses, 3/8 fuel line, Rear differential seal was replaced and serviced (chevy 12 bolt 3.08 open diff). New carpet, rearview mirror, miscellaneous interior trim pieces and emblems, and seatbelts, steering wheel, floor mats, package tray and insulation. New items included but not installed on the car: Rubber gasket set for entire car, front door arm rest bases, arm rest pads, new kick panels, wheel well trim I'm at least the fourth owner of this car. The original owner lived in Atlanta. Since then the car changed hands many times winding up in New York state at one point which is where I bought it from on Ebay. The car is an original SS big block car, but unfortunately the original engine and transmission were not with the car when I bought it. The car came with it's current engine (short block) and transmission. I have had the car for about 7 years, and has been an on again off again project sitting in my shop as it was not a driving vehicle when I bought it. From the doors back, the car is driver quality condition with good shiny paint. The trunk has been restored with original spatter paint and is in excellent conditon. The interior is in great conditon and I would give it an 8 out of 10. The only remaining issue with the interior that prevents it from being a 10 of 10 is that both door panels were replaced at some point from another 67 Impala that was Green. They have been dyed black, but the dye is fading and some green shows through on the drivers door from a cleaner I used once before. A very minor and easy fix with todays sprayable vinyl dye available at most Auto body paint supplies. The front fenders and hood are both in black PPG DP 90 primer. The car had rust in both front fenders at the bottom. I cut off the rusty areas and I welded in lower steel patch panels for a good quality repair. The fenders will require very minor sanding and prep for paint. The hood was in very poor condition when I bought the car. At some point someone tried to graph on a hood scoop and did a very poor job. I scrapped the hood and installed a fiberglass 4" cowl induction hood and proper fiber glass hood springs. Gel coat was sanded and sprayed with DP 90 as well and is ready for final body work and paint. A passenger side rear seat floor pan has also been installed at some point, but can only be seen when the carpet and insulation is out otherwise you couldn't tell. The vinyl top does not have any tears in it, but looks to be original. This will make someone a great car. I'm ready to cut my losses and move on. I have well over $12,000 in this car but will take much less than that as I have several other projects i'm trying to complete. My buy it now is a VERY fair price if you look at all the performance parts, new parts and work that has been done to date. The car is currently registered with a classic title and plates in Texas. I have driven this car around the block a few times since finishing the engine (spring) and it runs and drives fine with lots of power. It has a very lumpy idle and is an attention getter in my neighborhood. The exhaust is 3" flowmaster aluminized system from the header collectors back to the mufflers. It will need a front end alignment before driving very far to avoid tire damage due to new bushings, ball joints etc. The radiator is a small block unit, and should be replaced as well, as it canbarely keep the 454 cool on short drives with the dual fans. The tires are almost new, and are on older American Racing Daisy chrome 15" wheels. . The brakes are bled and stop the car much better than original. All the hard work is nearly done! It just needs to be painted and a new vinyl top to be a very high quality driver car. There aren't any other visible rust issues, dents or damage that I'm aware of except what has been noted above. I have the original steering wheel and will include with the sell. This is a cash money sell only. No checks, money orders or pay pal. Wire transfers may be considered. I will not deliver the car. I will work with the buyer and their arranged transporter and help load the car if required.
