Vehicle Detail

In 1994, the last year of this body style's production, the Lincoln Continental Executive edition was available in a Touring Edition, which included a rare floor shifter and center console, deleting the column shift, and also included a power moonroof, front bucket seats and special steering wheel. Continental featured dual exhaust raising horsepower to 160 for model year 1994. Continental used a sophisticated, state of the art, electronically controlled suspension system possessing luxurious calm on straightaway highway cruises, yet instantaneously transforming for responsive driver control when circumstances dictate, also including an automatic leveling system which keeps constant watch over ride height and stance. When weight is added to the trunk or cabin, adjustments are made to each wheel's variable-rate air springs. The result is a consistently level attitude and ride height, whether the change in load if front to back, or side to side, the Continental maintains it's poise assuring proper appearance, ride, and headlamp aim. This is one of the smoothest riding cars on the road, the plush suspension isolates passengers from the road and soaks up bumps exceptionally. Continental's precise rack and pinion steering is reinforced by computer-regulated, speed-sensitive variable power assist. A steering system that actually decreases power assist in subtle, incremental steps as speed increases to provide an assured feel of the road at highway speeds, but still allows a high level of assist for relaxed low-speed and parking maneuvers. This car has been very well maintained. You really must see this car in person to appreciate it. Most of the Continentals of this vintage are, by now, are in poor condition. I receive regular compliments on its appearance. EXTERIOR The name of Continental's exterior color is "Deep Jewel Green Metallic." The paint shines with a deep wet gloss, a pleasure to drive on a bright sunny day, when the shine can be fully appreciated. Yearly, professsional machine polishing, and frequent hand waxing has kept it looking it's best. Although not perfect, there are barely discernable imperfections here and there, but this handsome car turns heads. Dealer installed chrome rocker panels, chrome door pillar covers and a special chrome grill really set this car apart. All rubber door weatherstrips are intact and conditioned regularly to keep them soft and supple, ensuring a quiet cabin without wind-noise. The windshield has been replaced, along with new factory moldings. There is a slight bubble of rust at the right rear near the fuel door that has been there for several years, has not come through the paint- you have to look to see it. This also occured on the left side, but the left side was repaired at the dealer last summer. Note that this was not a temporary repair (at the time I had planned on keeping the car another 5 years) but the entire area was cut out and new metal welded in, entire area treated with "POR" then sanded and painted. Also when the car visited the body shop last summer, the front bumper cover was removed, sanded and repainted the factory original color because it was peppered with stone chips. Even the headlamp assemblies were replaced because the lenses were beginning to dull. INTERIOR Interior color is called "Mocha." The interior is plush and loaded, both front bucket seats have 6 way power adjustments, both have power lumbar, the driver's seat has the memory feature. Dual front airbags, automatic climate control, rear defrost, digital dashboard, Lincoln's premium JBL sound system, (terrific sound) AM/FM stereo with rare factory CD player, fingertip cruise control. "Autolamp" headlamp system, factory sliding / tilt power moonroof with shade, leather wrapped steering wheel, automatic parking brake release, height adjustable front seatbelts. Dual, power adjust, heated outside rear view mirrors. Power door locks with factory remote fob and Lincoln's driver door keypad keyless entry. In addition to the 5 digit factory preset system code, the keyless entry keypad system can also be programmed to use your own custom code. Leather seats are in great condition, and have had frequent cleaning / conditioning. There is one small imperfection in the carpeting on the right front passenger floor area. I even have a brand new set of the correct factory floormats to go with the car upon sale. Also the windows are tinted a very light tint (I do not remember the percentage of tint.) The trunklid is equipped with the power pull down to latch system, I would imagine designed for the ladies armed with department store packages who would have thought it gauche to reach up and slam the decklid. :-) MECHANICAL I am a FANATIC when it comes to maintenance!!!! Squeeks, rattles and inoperative switches keep me awake at night. All air suspension components have been replaced in the last 2 years including all four air struts, all four solenoids and a new air pump and dryer, as well as new height sensors, at an extensive cost. I remove the wheels every 3,000 miles to clean the airbladders and use rubber conditioner on the air bladders to keep the rubber soft and flexible. (Cracking and dry rotting of the airbladders is what causes them to fail.) The system loses no air and really lends this car a remarkable ride. Left and right inner and outer tie rods, battery, A/C receiver/dryer and lines, sway bar links, and ball joints have been replaced within the last two years, as well as both front axles. Oil changes performed religiously every 3,000 miles. Every 15,000 miles the engine air filter is replaced. Every 30,000 miles fuel filter, brake fluid flush and spark plugs are replaced. Brake pads have about 60% life remaining in the front and 40% lfe remaining in the rear. Parking brake shoes have been replaced and parking brake is used frequently, as it should be to keep things from siezing up. Air conditioning is ice cold and has been convertered to R-143A by the dealer. Two of the wheels were replaced because clearcoat was peeling at the edges. The automatic climate control works exceptionally well, set it and forget it. Occasionally the Check Engine light illuminates, but it is so infreqently, that when the car is brought in for service, the light is off and nothing can be found wrong. I bought a new car in January so this car has been used very little since then. Odometer miles are almost totally highway as this car was mainly used for freeway trips from the west side of southeast Michigan to the east side. Last summer one of the bulbs in the digital instrument cluster burned out so the dash was disassembled and ALL bulbs were replaced. Two switch clusters were also replaced because of burned out bulbs. I welcome any and all questions, thank you very much for looking and reading. I have many more pictures if you need them, or I am willing to take specific pictures and email them to you. I have to admit, I AM a bit of a nut, when it comes to taking care of cars. (Just ask anyone who has driven it and brought it back dirty.) I am sure if you read this far you have a sense for how well cared for this car has been. I really hate to part with her, as she has served the family well........but the fleet has expanded and I need the room.
