Before listing a vehicle on ebay, I personally road test each vehicle so I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. The description you are about to read is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on the findings of my road test. The information contained within this description is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and ability but cannot be guaranteed as I am not a mechanic. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Laredo trim. 1998 was the last year for this body style and the last of the good Jeeps in my opinion. This example is finished in Pewter Metallic over gray interior. I would rate the exterior of this Jeep as AVERAGE. The paint on this Jeep has a great shine and this is one of the most popular colors. The most noticable imperfection on the body of this Jeep is the dent in the rear lift gate. The paint isn't broken so rust isn't a problem here. The gate opens and closes properly. There are some small areas of rust at the usual spots for a Jeep. You can see some bubbling ot the right rear fender and some rust spots along the rocker panel on both sides. The underside looks fine. The tires on this Jeep look to be nearly new and knee deep in tread. Overall this is a good looking Jeep. I would rate the interior of this Jeep as Average. Most importantly, the seats are clean and show no significant wear throughout. There is some minor cracking on the drivers door arm rest but nothing major. The carpets are clean and full throughout. The headliner is clean and in tact. The cargo area is spacious, clean and comes with the original retracting cargo cover. The climate control is working properly and the air conditioner blows ice cold air! The stereo is factory and sounds great. It can play both CD's and cassettes (if you still have any...you should keep that to yourself, lol). Everything seems to be working properly inside. Mechanically, this Jeep seems to be in relatively good condition. I don't need to go on and on about how great the 4.0L engine is...you should already know if you're reading this. It starts right up and idles well. During my road test, the engine kept a normal temperature and proper oil pressure. I did not notice any leaks under this Jeep. I buy Jeeps with this engine regardless of miles because they just don't quit. This one seems to be a runner... The suspension bushings are showing a little age. The Jeep drives well but you can feel that it's a little loose all around if you go over some rough spots in the road. It will drive easily at highway speeds and not pull you around or vibrate. It behaves very well in normal conditions. The brakes stop this truck very well and show no pulsation or squeeling. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts normally. This Jeep has the more desirable Select-Trac 4WD system which allows for 2WD use in normal conditions and 4HI/4LO for difficult driving conditions. The other system is Quadra-Trac which is full time 4WD. I do not like the Quadra-Trac because of the hit in fuel economy you take being stuck in 4WD all the time and also because it binds up in tight turning like pulling into a parking space. Select-Trac is the way to go if you ask me. I've sold many Jeeps over 200k with no problems. This Jeep is PA inspected through the end of the year.
