Vehicle Detail
1966 Porsche 911 – Here is a fall 1965 production 1966 model year 911 sunroof coupe. I purchased the car from the second owner who owned the car for 25-years. The car is a complete project and would require a full restoration. The car has rust in the rockers, dog-legs, rear driver’s tail-light housing and front horse shoe. The floor is in good condition with no rut. The areas under the rear suspension on the driver side are rotted - the passenger side is solid. The majority of the rot is on the driver side of the car (i.e., rockers, rear suspension, rear tail light bucket). The interior is in good condition and completely restorable with no rip’s, tears or excessive wear. The Interior is just very tired as the car has sat for at least 10-years. The doors close very nice and the gaps are very good. There is no sag in the car. The underneath of the doors are solid, the hood is straight with no rot, all the glass is good, the cowling is rust free and the body from the front fenders back is straight with no damage (excluding a fixable broad dent in the driver’s door). Both front fenders have been damaged along with the driver’s door. However, based on the damage of the fenders, they are repairable broad dents from a low impact hit. Although the car has been partially disassembled (in preparation of restoration), all the parts have been accounted for and will be included in a sale of the car. This car is completely original except for the motor. At the moment the motor is a complete 2.2 Liter. When the car was parked, the motor ran very nice and pulled very well at high RPM. The original match numbers case will be included with the car. As for the mileage...I can only assume the 16,578 is correct - however, it is not out of the possibility that the true milage is 116,578. The FUCHs are 14x5.5 and in very good shape (no curb rash), but they do need refinished. I purchased the car with the intention of restoring the car. Although this is a project car, it is a ’66 model year 911 sunroof coupe that is worth saving. The early cars are becoming harder and harder to find with the costs rising steeply. I have a lot of pictures of the car from various angles. It would take a long time to down load all the pictures I have of the car. Therefore, I can burn them on to a CD ROM and/or download them to a FTP site if people are interested. I am offering this car for auction at a very low starting bid. The starting bid is less than what you can part this car out. If the buyer wishes to use the "BUY IT NOW" option, I will transport the car at no charge within a 500 mile radius of Cleveland, Ohio. No warranty included or implied. I reserve the right to cancel bids from those bidders that show negative and/or zero feedback. In addition, I reserve the right to pull this auction at anytime based on my own reason. If you have any questions about the car, please ask prior to bidding. Good Luck and check out my other Porsche parts auctions. On Jun-21-11 at 16:25:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Original Paint Code - 6602:Polo Red This car was featured as a reference guide in the "The 911 & 912 Porsche - A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity" - book by Dr. B.
