Vehicle Detail
This 1970 (prod. date 1/70, VIN# CT70-139779) CT70 was purchased from the original owner's family at a farm "Estate" sale in MI and was used by he and his children to check livestock and fencing for the first 4 or 5 years of it's life and then parked when they got to big and to "old" to ride the little guy. It got parked in a machine shed near a window and has a bit of fading on the main frame area (see photos) where the "Honda" sticker is. I purchased the bike in disrepair as the farmers great-grandson had gotten ahold of it and tore it apart to rebiuld it after it had been sitting in the shed for nearly 30 years. He bought new "Cheng Shin" tires, tubes and repainted the rusty rims (did a really clean job of it), a battery and a complete seat off "Ebay" (due to the cause of mice eating most of the old one), then he threw some fresh gas in her, but could never get it running quite right and soon lost interest in it (this information was gleaned from his very helpful grandmother). It sat for another couple of years and ended up for auction at the families estate sale, where I enetered the picture. I purchased the lil Honda (I am a factory trained motorcycle mechanic by trade and have ridden bikes for over 45 years and I always loved these little bikes), and drained the old fuel, cleaned the carb and spark plug and put a new battery in her. She had spark and fuel, but I soon found out that the compression was very low and decided to pull the head and cylinder and sure enough the rings were stuck to the piston. I purchased all new parts to rebuild the top-end (piston, rings, gaskets, etc.) and put her all back together to factory specs (with original bore still in tact) and now she runs just great, as all Honda's do! I left the bike in it's original patina'd state and also replaced the front brake shoes, drive chain, cleaned/repacked the neck bearings, replaced the wheel bearings, refurbished the carburetor and replaced the missing rear brake cable with a factory one. The lights (including high beam, low beam, running and brake), horn and speedometer all work. The front forks, headlamp shell, rear chainguard and one rear shock cover were painted, also by the great-grandson reportedly due to some farm chemical being accidently dropped on her while parked in the shed (and again, a pretty good match and a clean job was done but not exactly the original factory color . . . see photos). All-in-all she's a mostly original, unmolested survivor that has normal wear and tear for a vehicle of it's age and very minor rust in a few areas mostley from scratches it endured over the years and it runs great! I have ridden her around the yard to put "break-in" miles on her new piston/rings and as far as I know (and the helpful grandmother too) the 2,588 mileage is correct. As with all vintage motorcycles, this one is sold in as-is condition and I will help with any shipping arrangements, but the shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the buyer. A Bill of Sale will be provided (you may also obtain a clear title if you require one). Please ask questions before you bid. I will answer all questions to the best of my ability. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
