Up for auction is a nice 1985 Volvo 245 wagon. This car has the 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder motor and a 4 speed manual transmission with electric overdrive. Overall it is in very good condition, there is a small tear in the bottom of the driver's seat but otherwise the interior is in beautiful shape. The headliner has no rips or stains nor does the carpet. The dash has a couple very fine cracks from age but looks very presentable with the dashmat cover. The paint is original and in excellent condition, there is a dent in the driver's door (see photo) and a small area of surface rust at the bottom of the passenger fender (also photographed). There does not seem to be any rot-through in this area. This car has a new distributor, a new fuel pump, new clutch and clutch cable and recently replaced muffler and tailpipe. She runs strong and doesnt burn oil, and gets great gas mileage! I have acheived 32-33 mpg on trips to Hendersonville with this car. It has been reliable and I am acquainted with the history having bought it from a long time friend. The brakes are very good and the tires are fair....if I were able to keep this car I would invest in at least two tires shortly. The A/C doesn't work (the compressor is shot) and the rear wiper doesn't work. I haven't had time to address these issues and now job loss is forcing me to sell. If you are looking for a fuel efficient daily driver that is notoriously strong, then a 240 Volvo is a good candidate. These cars are well known for longevity and reliablity, as well as being able to carry as much as a mid size pickup. Believe me, this car is heavy and built like a tank.
