For Sale 1983 Chevrolet El Camino Diesel, YES a genuine Factory Diesel! Very Rare, less than 700 of these were ever made, even less survived as the original 5.7 350 converted Olds Engines were just awful. This one has the later DX replacement motor which is much more reliable. This El Camino was my daily driver before being parked for electrical problems. The electrical system needs to be replaced, an entire rebuilt harness would cost about $400, not including labor and ignition modification for the diesel. I believe this vehicle would start and run just fine, if the electrical problems were corrected.The body is pretty straight with some surface rust, but as far as I can tell no cancer type rust or salt erosion as this is a California Car, there is a dent on the Rear Driverside Panel, and some Blue paint as I was going to have the vehicle body fixed and prepared to paint. The front windshield is cracked and should be replaced. The Automatic Transmission is stock and ran fine, but needed to shift in to neutral on the fly to shift into the higher gear.I Recommend this vehicle to under go a COMPLETE RESTORATION as the interior including the dash board, seats and carpet, side windows and rubber moldings all need attention. I've owned the vehicle for about 10 Years, got it in running condition and drove it about 3 years before the electrical problems.
