Vehicle Detail
Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I am a licensed wholesaler offering traded in and off lease vehicle directly to the public. Buying your next vehicle through one of my NO RESERVE auctions could save you thousands over what a retail dealer might ask for a similar vehicle by eliminating most of the overhead expenses associated with a retail dealership and letting you name your own price. Before listing a vehicle on ebay, I personally road test it so I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. The description you are about to read is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on the findings of my road test. The information contained within this description is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and ability but cannot be guaranteed as I am not a mechanic. If you would like to come take a look at any vehicle before bidding, just ask. I'd be happy to arrange a time to meet you at my storage facility so you can kick the tires. An administrative fee of $99 will be added to the final bid of each auction. All vehicles are sold "as-is" and "as-traded". Unless specifically stated otherwise, I do not service or inspect any vehicle prior to sale. Any known faults are fully disclosed. Please read the entire description carefully before bidding or asking questions. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4. This is a good looking truck that is finished in a dark red with gray interior. I would rate the exterior of this Ford as ABOVE AVERAGE. There is a small amount of rust in the usual spot at the rear doors but the body is in considerably better condition than most considering the miles. The outside front passengers door handle is broken. All of the glass and lenses appear to be in tact. The alloy wheels look good and the tires are decent. The interior of this Explorer is also ABOVE AVERAGE. All of the door panels are clean and in tact. The door locks are INOP and the left rear door is missing the interior handle. The carpets are clean throughout. The headliner is in good shape. The seats are clean all around and show no rips or holes. The stereo is the factory unit with CD and it sounds good. The climate control is in working order and the air conditioner blows cold. The cargo area is clean and spacious. Mechanically, this one may need some attention. The 4.0L engine starts right up and runs very well. I noticed no leaks or smoke. I have driven this truck several times and it holds great oil pressure and normal engine temperature. The suspension isn't the tightest (it does have 166k) but it drives strait down the road. The steering and brakes feel good. One day out of the blue, I was pulling out and the transmission slipped on me. Right after that, the "O/D off" light started flashing. This is common with Explorers. I've read several posts on this subject and I believe it's the 2nd to 3rd solenoid or servo that goes bad. From what I hear, it's not a bad fix but please do your own research. When that happened, I started in L and shifted it up manually and it didn't slip at all. It drives easy down the highway. What's sad is that very few mechanics know how to diagnose and fix things these days. They plug it in, get a code and go to the computer to see what the procedure is. From the posts I've read, I believe factory procedure is to replace the transmission but it's that 2nd to 3rd thing that is the culprit and it's servicable. I just went to google and typed in something like "explorer overdrive light flashing". Again, please do your own research. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Here is a link to a decent thread about this problem from my google search. I hope this can help. http://www.automotiveforums.com/t198453-discuss2000_ford_explorer_o_d_light_flashing__.html
