My 1985 Honda Sabre is driven daily (weather permitting). Great, solid, dependable bike, and definitely a classic. If you are not familiar with the history of the 84 – 85 Sabre, please do some research. Due to the 121 horse power and significant speed, this is NOT a beginners bike! The Honda V65 Sabre was produced for two years, 1984 and 1985. It was powered by the 1,098 cubic centimeter (cc) V-4 engine that also powered the Honda Magna of the same vintage. The Sabre was more sport oriented and styled, whereas the Magna was a cruiser. The V-4 engine was a technological centerpiece for Honda. Engine specifications The V65's engine was water-cooled and featured dual overhead cams (DOHC). This was a four-stroke engine and features four valves per cylinder. The compression ratio of the V65's engine was 10.5-to-1 and the bore and stroke was 79.6 by 55.3 mm. This engine featured four constant-velocity 36 mm carburetors and wet sump lubrication. The Sabre's engine produced an impressive 121 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 69.3 foot-pounds of torque at 7,500 rpm. Transmission, brakes and suspension specifications The V65 Sabre had a six-speed transmission that transfered power to the rear wheel via shaft drive. The front braking system consisted of two disc brakes and the rear brake had a single disc. The front suspension had 41 mm air-assisted forks with 150 mm of travel, and the rear suspension had twin adjustable shocks. The front tire was a 110/90-R18 and the rear tire was a 140/80-R16. Weight and capacity The V65 Sabre weighed 540 pounds dry. The fuel tank held 5.2 gallons. Performance data The quarter mile time for the V65 Sabre was 10.75 seconds at a speed of 78.25 mph. The estimated top speed was 135 miles per hour. It's water cooled, shaft drive, elec. start, in excellent condition with 52,352 miles on the ODO. (driven most dry days to work, so mileage will change) Everything on this bike works as it should, except for the the clock (so I added a clock under the cluster, see pictures). Starts easily, shifts smoothly, handles great and is a joy to ride! Carburetors have been recently professionally cleaned with ultrasonic cleaning tool and preform GREAT. Comes with the rare, original full hondaline fairing with (even rarer) full lower fairing skirts and a second windshield. Comes with two custom side bags, cage for carrying many things, a special back rest for the driver (designed by a Chiropractor), expandable tank bag, and a Nice nylon bike cover. I will also give the winning bidder an newer front tire. Please be aware that this bike is 26 years old and although it has been very well cared for and is garage kept, it still has some minor scuffs and nicks that come with age.
