Vehicle Detail

I hate to do this but I have to sell my 1968 Mustang Fastback. It is one of the last 289 Mustangs. It was shipped to the dealer on Jan 1,1968. Ford stopped using the 289 in march of 1968 and went to the 302. I used to have the Marti report for it but I can't find it now,but found the door tag they sent me . I do know it is 1 of 388 with 289cid, Wimbledon White Paint ,Red "C" stripe, and Red Interior. How many of those are still around? One at least, this one. It is in very good condition and clean inside and out. Runs and drives great. The odometer reads 13,984 but I'm unsure of the actual mileage -- this is not the original motor and I don't know how long ago the motor was rebuilt. But it runs strong. The BFG's TA radials have plenty of tread with Chrome Styled Steel Wheels and trim rings. It has power steering and factory a/c that works. No rust anywhere. Engine compartment is very clean. New battery was installed in March 2011. The car was probably redone 15 to 20 years ago. I have owned it for 5 years and it has been kept in a garage and covered and has not seen rain since I bought it. The paint is very good but does have a spot on the hood about the size of a baseball that has faded to a cream color. It is hard to see, but you can see it, but it does not take away from the looks of this car. The passenger side rear quarter panel trim looks like it was hit with a shopping cart. But I have bought a NOS replacement part to fix it. The drivers side door has been repaired at the latch and works just fine, but I have bought a original Ford door that just needs to be painted and installed. It also has the original rear window. Over the past 5 years I have invested somewere between 12k and 15k for parts to replace the ones that are pitted or look bad. I just have not had time to install them and they will be included in this auction. Some of the parts are NOS light housings, side markers, interior and exterior door handles. I got NOS parts when I could and there are A LOT of NOS parts. Below is a list of some of the parts I have bought. The parts that are not NOS are quality Branda and Drake parts. The red interior is in really good shape, except for the sail panels -- someone added some speakers in them so they have big holes in them. The red carpet behind the rear fold down rear seat is faded. I wanted to change the red for black so all the upholstery is black comfort weave. I also bought a set of seats with head rests. They just have to be recovered with the new seat foam and upholstery. New black carpet all around and new chrome trim for the fold down rear seat. I also bought some used original Ford Sail Panels that LOOK GREAT (got them off ebay for $1000.00, yes they are that nice). The best I have ever seen, look almost brand new! I found some A/C vents that look almost new as well ($500.00 after buying many, many sets that I was not happy with). Look at the pics on Flickr -- they LOOK GREAT! There is also an NOS gauge cluster that has been fitted with new lenses and all gauges have been cleaned and checked out, and it also has the clock that works. The center console has been cleaned and refurbished and is one of the best I have seen ($600.00 on ebay). The car does not have an overhead console in it at this time but I bought one that looks very good. I have all the wiring and brackets for both consoles. There is also a rebuilt deluxe shifter that is very tight. The grille has some kind of cheap fog light system now. I do not know if it is Ford. But I bought a Mustang GT grille that I know IS FORD that looks brand new. I have the clear lamps as well as the GE FDU15220 Amber lamps. It is ready to install. I bought a turn signal hood but it needs to be prepped and painted. I found some turn signal housings that have been chromed. They really look HOT! and should look great on the car. It has all the wiring and grommets and lenses. I have old Hammond louvers for the back window, in excellent shape, never installed, and have all mounting hardware. · A/C center vent · A/C control and passenger vent · bumper guard rubbers · carpet · console (center) · console (overhead) · console mounting brackets · console seat belt cups · deluxe upholstery (front and back) · door arm rest pad · door panels · door watershields · fog lamp wiring kit & switch · fog light fuse bracket · fold-down rear seat trim · front marker light lens · front seat foam · front seat hinge covers · headliner · hood signal housings · hood turn signal grommets · hood turn signal light housings · hood turn signal wiring · instrument cluster with quartz clock · instrument cluster LED gauge light conversion kit · NOS backup light assembly · NOS backup light gaskets · NOS backup light lens gaskets · NOS backup light lenses · NOS console ashtray · NOS console ashtray insert · NOS dimmer switch rubber · NOS door handle - interior - left · NOS door handle - interior - right · NOS door handle push buttons · NOS door handles - exterior · NOS door lock knobs · NOS door panel clips · NOS exhaust tips · NOS fender marker lights · NOS fog lamps (amber, installed on grille) · NOS front turn-signal housing · NOS front marker light lenses · NOS gas cap · NOS grille pony emblem · NOS GT grille · NOS hood chrome · NOS hood turn signal light lenses · NOS rear quarter panel chrome · NOS side markers · NOS sun visor center bracket · NOS taillight lenses · NOS trunk chrome · NOS turn signal lever · NOS visor tips · NOS window cranks · passenger side A/C vent · pillar post pads · power feed cord · rear deck speakers and amplifiers · rear fold down seat catch plates · rear folddown seat bumpers · rear folddown seat bumpers w/Nuts · rear folddown seat carpet · rear folddown seat support plates · rear interior quarter lights · rear quarter panel molding · rear-view mirror · sail panel vent slides · sail panels · screw kit · seat headrest covers · seat track plates (set of 8) · seats with headrests · shoulder seat belt bolts · steering wheel · trunk letters · trunk light · turn-signal hood · visors · window (passenger side) · window seals · wiper arms · …. & MORE ! There are 120+ additional pictures there ! If you can't get to Flickr, email me and I can ZIP the photos and email them to you. No expense was spared in the purchase of the parts (ask my wife!). If a part needed replacing, I bought and sold till I found what I thought was the best part I could find. If you win this car you will not be disapointed! I have tried to describe everything to the best of my ability. Check out my feedback score. I do the best I can. Most of those are from buying and selling parts for this car. The car is a very good Mustang as it sets, but you put in all the parts I have bought and it will be a GREAT MUSTANG! If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I feel that the reserve price is more than fair for what I have invested in the car and the parts. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time before the reserve is met as it is for sale locally. If you are in the DFW area on Saturday June 11, 2011, I will have the car at the North Texas Mustang Club Cruise that will be held at... Cracker Barrel 889 South Stemmons Freeway Lewisville Tx 75057 I-35 and Fox Ave. 4:00pm-7:00pm And for those of you that can't make it to Cracker Barrel on June 11, I have decided to make the car available to see on June 18 between 12:00pm and 6:00pm. If you email me I will give you an address for you to look at it, BUT ONLY ON SATURDAY JUNE 18, 2011 BETWEEN 12:00-6:00pm I will not ship this car. You can pick it up, or you can make arrangments for your shipper to pick up. THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!!
