FOR SALE: 1997 LEXUS LX 450 (or the more luxurious version of the most highly sought-after Toyota Landcruiser) The 80 series Landcruiser is considered one of the greatest SUV's ever built, if not the very best. They are known to last a half a million miles and are the most desired vehicles in the Saharan region in northern Africa for their rugged demeanor and ability to handle the extreme conditions. In America, they perform just as well in day to day situations and that's the reason many examples retail for $10,000 and more, even with over 200,000 miles. This truck is one of the cleaner '97's on the roads. It does have 204,000 miles but the engine purrs and the truck runs quiet and smooth. The interior is in good shape, but the drivers seat does show some signs of the mileage. The other leather seats are better and the third row is like new. The carpet is in excellent shape. The paint is in pretty good shape for the year. It's still has a good sheen, as evidenced by the photos, but does have a few minor spots that have been touched up over the years. I can send you more pix if you're genuinely interested. Overall the exterior is probably a 7, and the interior is probably a 7 as well, on a 1-10 point scale. We purchased this truck as a 3rd vehicle primarily to tow a small pop-up camper a few years ago. At the time it had 174,000 miles on it. Since then we've actually improved the truck with a good deal of preventative maintenance and timely repairs. Recent Maintenance or upgrades: We had a new windshield installed by Safelite two weeks ago. The truck has newer Toyo tires that have less than 10,000 miles on them. We replaced all the belts on the truck a while back. We then learned that the truck has redundant systems when we blew a belt and the truck kept on ticking! It has two of each belt in case one goes out too far from the dealership or home to change... We replaced the brake rotors and pads on all 4 wheels less than 6 months ago. Lexus recommends the replacement of the wheel bearings when changing rotors so we replaced the wheel bearings on all 4 wheels as well. At one point we were losing power and found that the valve cover gasket was leaking. We replaced that just 3 months ago and the car is pulling stronger than ever. We had a full tune-up with cap, rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires performed when we had the valve cover gaskets replaced 3 months ago. I installed a bug deflector on the front end and upgraded the front speakers to some decent Kicker 6.5" a while back as well. From the factory, the LX had the following options: Tow package 6 Disc CD Running Boards Moon Roof Roof rack The Kelly Blue Book Values on this car are: Trade In Value: $5500-6500 Private Sale Value: $7000-9000 Expected Retail Price: $9000-11000 We purchased this car for a decent price a few years back and are passing it on at a decent price now. We just bought another SUV for camping and everyday use for my wife, and no longer need the Lexus. The reserve is very low and the Buy it Now price is a steal! You won't be disappointed in this truck. It's been a fantastic vehicle for our family as it seats 7 easily and can go anywhere in style despite the years. It also is an able tower as long as the object you're towing is 3500 lbs or less. It worked great for our pop-up. The low auto-check score is due to a clerical error at the DMV years back. At 101,111 miles it was input as 110,111 and was corrected a few months later when it was sold. As a result, it appeared that there was possible tinkering with the odometer. The previous seller assured me that this didn't happen. However, Carfax and Auto-Check always raise a red flag for the buyer in these cases. As I stated above, I purchased the truck at 174,000 miles after learning of the error through Carfax, and have had no issues with the truck other than minor maintenance and expected repairs. Because of the age of the truck, the repairs have been reasonably priced as well through our local repair shop. This truck is ready to roll for the next 100,000 miles as it sits. It doesn't need anything but a new driver! All costs associated with shipping or receiving the vehicle will be paid by buyer and the vehicle is being sold as-is. Serious buyers only please... This is a great Land Cruiser! Bid with confidence from a seller with high integrity.
