You are looking at a beautiful california 1968 Volkswagen bus. I have seen a lot of buses and this one is truly unique. It has lived in california its entire life and has the original black and yellow plates. It really hurts me to let this go, i have owned it for almost 7 years and we have had a lot of fun together. I am selling because i dont use it as much as i’d like. She needs someone to treat her right. As i said this bus is very unique in many ways. First, you will NOT find another bus with the original receipt of sale, owners manual, original maintenance record, and photos from 1970. see pics. Second I have been around a lot of theses buses and i have rarely seen a Sundial Camper conversion in this good original condition. They really did a fantastic job with this conversion. additionally, this van has its original paint, yes, there a little rust and the paint is not perfect but you rarely see these with original factory paint, and it looks good. Now to the details. Most importantly this van is a strong, very reliable car. There is a NEW engine in it that was installed 1/3/2008. since then i have only put 6,000 miles on it. It has lived in a garage fro half of the time i have owned it. A Tuttles 1680cc motor was put in the vehicle and at the time the vehicle received new: oil cooler, intake manifold, engine mounts, oil cooler seal, muffler, accelerator cable, dist rotor, dist cable, condenser, spark plugs, belts, heater hose, oil pressure switch, carb gasket, air filter. I have taken vey good care of this vehicle from the day i bought it until now. It starts right up each time with no issues. the clutch and tranny are in good condition. The brakes were recentky checked and the vehicle stops as it should. When i first purchased the vehicle i had the front end rebuilt, steering and suspension are fantastic. The van rides straight and strong and stops well. Tires have less than 500 miles on them - Brand new Michelin, they really improved the ride quality. The odometer reads 26,800 and the motor was replaced at 17,500. The dash has acrack down the middle that i have screwed in place to prevent further cracking, it looks great other than that. The heater works great and gets VERY hot. The vents open well and function perfectly. Electrical system is good. The horn does NOT work. Stereo works great with two front speakers. The back speakers are not connected. Stereo has am/fm/tape/aux. all lights work as they should. Signal works well but sometimes temperamental. The front seats have covers on them. The original upholstery is in poor unusable condition. But the frames are in good working order. Seats move front and back with no issue. Grey covers look good and do the trick. Rear upholstery in in great condition. Behind the passenger seat and the bed/bed in the back has been re-upholstered in black vinyl. Carpet in the rear is in good condition i put it in a couple years ago to cover the linoleum floors that were original in poor condition. The camper aspects: bed folds down cleanly/easily, cabinets are in good sliding condition, wood is in fair condition, table is in good condition, ice-box works very well and a bag of ice will keep you cold for over a day. I never messed with the sink. toilet is in good condition, bucket and seat are clean. The bus has curtains in the front and back and the windows are limo tinted all around. It does have the cable to hang more curtains. The doors are in amazing condition, the glass is great. The seals should be replaced soon as they are drying out. All the doors lock. The key only works for the sliding door the other locks are different and you need to have a locksmith check them out. Rust: there is no rust affected the structural aspects of the car. It is strong and straight. However, there is some rust on the rain gutters of the vehicle, the front, and various places on the body - see pics. There is also rust in the floor pans. This is unfortunate but pretty normal for a car of its age. Additionally the auction includes a roof rack a reproduction original. See pictured. It needs to be resurfaced but has oak slats with a steel structure great for surfboards, bags, or just good looks. I hope i have done a good job described this thing. She is a real beauty.
