Vehicle Detail

Up for Auction is a 1968 Nova SS, yes it's a real SS, NOT a clone. This car has been in my family since 1982 when I bought it from a guy in New Castle, IN. A 1968 Super Sport is an extremely rare car with 6571 cars built with the SS option. How many remain 40+ years later???? Answer - not many. This car has additional rare options like factory console gauges and a factory tach. In the almost 30 years I owned this car it was never wrecked. I don't know about the time before I owned it. In 1968 the ways to tell that a car is a true SS are limited. But I'll present the evidence I have... 1. I bought it as an SS in 1982 when SS parts weren't commonly available. 2. It has factory front disc brakes and the brake pad says "disc brakes". Only SS had that. 3. The decaying/burnt build paper I found under the back seat says this 440052 11427 WRN 0765 451 C08 D55 L48 So it originally had bucket seats, a vinyl roof and console gauges - That confirms how I bought the vehicle and it still has the buckets and console gauges. (I took the vinyl roof off) 4. In 1968 the SS had block letter between the door and the front wheel that said SuperSport. This car has that although one of the SuperSport emblems was too damaged but the fender still has the original holes from the factory. 5. The interior had SS pieces inserted in the dash and in the steering wheel. this car still has those. 6. The more common SS features like the front and rear SS emblems and the hood grilles. This car has them too. Interior - I have the front buckets and rear seat and new carpet. You will need a new headliner Engine - The engine is not original to the car, it was this way when I bought it. The engine is from an early 70's Camaro and it's a 350 with no internal modifications. It ran when I poured gas into the carb, the last time I tried. I make no guarantees but I think it will run with a little work. Exterior - Most of the car is covered in primer keep the rust down. You will have to replace floor pans, trunk area parts, and wheel well parts. The biggest mistake I made was having someone replace the quarterpanels. He used 1969 quarters, not 68 which has smaller turn signal markers. And he didn't replace the necessary trunk metal so it's not attached well at the bottom. I know it's not ideal but that's the facts. Overall - I took the chrome and other valuable pieces off the car to avoid theft. Please try to think about the value of this car when it's complete. It could easily be worth a mint when finished. This is a NO RESERVE auction so if there's one bid or 100, it's being sold. The car is sold as is. I've tried my best to explain things fully, please ask any questions you might have. .
