1976 Volkswagen Karmann Beetle Convertible This car runs and drives very well. It is solid and mechanically sound, The beetle runs great and starts up every time. The car is in overall really good condition. There are no big rust issues except for on the floor pans, but I have good quality replacement pans that will come with the car. Changing the pans doesn't have to be done immediately, but will need to be done sooner or later. Underneath be battery below the back seat is the worst spot, where the rust has gone completely through, but the battery is braced and held in by 2 support bars. Odometer reads 23,265k miles, but that is incorrect because the motor has been replaced. Based off of the cast numbers on the block, the motor came out of a 68 or 69 beetle and is a 1500cc motor. The tires are in excellent condition. Bug has air that runs off of a compressor, but no A/CHas heat & defrostThe interior is in good shapeCD Player & Speakers have been upgraded (detachable face Pioneer w/ aux jack for iPod)All glass is in great shapePaint looks really good, but has a couple of minor cracks and chipsBody is in great shape with no dings and only one small dent on front right fenderAll lights work: blinker, headlights, taillights, reverse lights, brake lights, etc. Overall the car is in really good shape. The engine could use a timing and carb adjustment, but as the car currently is, it runs and drives with no problems. The high beams on the headlights are currently stuck on high, but I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine and it is a $60 correction. If I have the time this week, I will have that issue solved. Apparently, it is only a relay problem, but my mechanical skills are not good enough to correct it. The top is a tan cloth top and it also is in good condition. The folding frame is in excellent condition and all parts move freely and well. The headliner on the inside of the top needs to be repaired or replaced ($150). Overall, the top is in great condition too, but could just use a wash. All in all this is a great car and can easily be a daily driver with "minimal" work. The bug is tagged and will pass inspection once the headlight issue is corrected. I also have clear Texas title in my name.
