Vehicle Detail
Up for sale, a 1983 Honda XR200r, street legal with clear Michigan title. This bike has been restored to like new condition. I'll do my best to go through all of the specifics about the bike but I'm sure I'll leave something out, please emil me with any questions prior to bidding. Body;I bought this bike together but it was far from nice, I went through the entire bike, stripping it down to the frame, sandblasting it and painting it gloss white. The plastics were stripped of the stickers, sanded down and painted with a semi-gloss black. The paint really came out good as the paint I used was a primer/sealer coat from my Dad's Corvette project (this is $150 a gallon paint) I chose this paint because as I searched around the internet, everyone warned me not to paint dirt bike plastics as they are too flexible and will chip off quickly, this is not the case here, this paint is meant for flexible plastic type materials as the Corvette is, so it's on there good. Also it has great resistance to chemicals including gasoline. I tested the back of one piece by putting some gas directly on it and there is no damage at all, although I have always been very careful not to get gas on the paint when filling up, it is just nice to know it won't be totally ruined if it does happen. Brakes are the stock drums. The headlight is the stock unit with a LED bulb installed in it, it is super bright at night and it has a very low power consumption. The taillight is stock. The lights run off of a 12 volt sealed battery that is located in the storage pouch behind the seat. The battery is mounted securely in there and the whole unit is simply bolted to the frame where the stock pouch was originally mounted. The battery is not charged by the system on the bike, however the battery lasts well over 2 weeks as I have been waiting to charge it to see what the range is. but it is easy enough to throw a small charger on it every once in a while, and you're good to go. I decided to go this route because it was to hard to try to track down 6 volt batteries and bulbs, this is simple and easy, and works great. Brake light works well. The seat skin is also new, and came out perfect. Engine; The engine runs great, I went totally through it, replacing all of the gaskets, and the carb is brand new. It is just stock, but starts right up on the 1st kick usually, maybe the 2nd. It seems to be running a bit rich just from the smell, but it has great power and runs all the way out to the rev-limiter with no loss, I figured don't mess with it if it is running as well as it is. I have driven it maybe 200 miles on the road, and 65 or so is it's top speed, not too bad, it gets around town anyways. tThe engine is missing the cover for the front sprocket, which isn't a problem, but I haven't seen any on Ebay to buy for it. The exhaust is a Supetrap unit that came with the bike when I got it, but was in sad shape, I took it off and had it welded back up, now stronger than when new. Everything else with the engine seems to be good, the clutch works well, shifts fine, etc. Wheels;Wheels are stock, aluminum is nice for it's age with just minor scuffs and scrapes. The tires are brand new, street legal units, which ride great on the road, but seem to be not aggressive enough for serious off-road use, but I am also including the mud tires that are pictured, they are almost new as well, nice deep treads for off-road. New tubes were put in both wheels. New parts;HandlebarsGripsBrake and clutch levers and perchesSpark plugSeatTiresTubesEngine gasketsLightsBatteryPaintEtc. Like I said before I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but this is generally a nice bike and doesn't really show it's age. Being an 83, it still looks decent, as it is all new or redone. The storage pouch is a nice feature as you can keep your paperwork in there, and there's maybe room for a can of soda or something in addition to the battery. The bike really drives nice, but this is bike #4 currently for me and I thought that I wanted a dirt bike, but really I haven't even ever got it off of the road, so I should sell it. It is nice that it has a title and is street legal, drive right off the road onto the trails. Shipping;I live in Haslett, MI 48840, but drive down to the Detroit area every once in a while, so i would be willing to meet you anywhere along the way for delivery. I will also ship the bike, and will box/crate/package the bike in any manner needed for free to ship it, however shipping is NOT included and I guess your best bet would be to Google shipping companies for a quote. Also if you pay for gas, I will drive a reasonable distance to deliver the bike, please email me first though. Good luck bidding, you will not be disappointed with this XR, it is a nice street legal bike that has been completely redone. Again, please ask any questions before bidding.
