Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my daily driver, an '86 Mercedes 190E 2.3 with a rare 5-speed manual transmission. The car is charcoal gray with tan interior, it has 180k miles, car comes with a nice set of Basket weaves BBS factory wheels. I spent some time and money making the car a nice daily driver, the exterior is not perfect (clear coat peeling in some area, blemishes here and there consistent with a 25 year old car, a couple rust holes by the rear jacking points/side skirts that were treated with rust stopper), the interior is nice, this car makes for a very good daily driver. First off maintenance wise, I replaced the following within the last year: distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, ignition coil, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay and main fuse, brake fluid and coolant flush, battery was replaced by previous owner. A few things the car will need: serpentine belt, brake master cylinder asap (I'm including a replacement one with the car). There are also a few glitches, the trunk doesn't lock and the ABS light is on, usually nothing more than a bad wheel sensor. I've also made a few tasteful mods to the car to make it more modern and comfortable: the front seats were replaced by Bmw 3-series seats (a lot more comfortable, night and day difference), a very nice expensive Momo 4-spoke steering wheel was installed as well as a weighed stainless steel shifter knob, car also has a short throw shifter, the ugly factory airbox was replaced with a custom cold air intake (no longer have to remove it every time to perform maintenance on the engine), the front grille, bumper and side mirrors were painted to match body color, black-out headlight/grille area. Finally the car has a very nice sounding sound system, with 6-speakers in the front (tweeters + mid range + full range in the doors from a later 190E), a small sub and amp it has a nice head unit that plays CDs, Mp3s, DVDs, DIVX, accept SD-Cards and USB thumb drives + Aux. Input. The car is fun to drive, return good gas mileage from its 4 cylinder motor, I personally hate automatic transmissions and Mercedes are hard to find vs Bmw with a manual tranny. As a disclaimer, the car originally came with an airbag steering wheel which I replaced with an aftermarket one, I will include the orginal wheel with car in case your state requires it to pass inspection, also in order for the Bmw seats to work with the stock Mercedes seats belts, the belt buckles were swapped with Bmw ones, tampered seat belts could also cause you to fail inspection, so keep that in mind if your state requires inspection. Happy Bidding. On May-31-11 at 19:13:45 PDT, seller added the following information: One thing I missed that may be worth mentioning, the e-brake doesn't work, I bought the car like that and never bothered looking into fixing it as I'm used to cars with worn e-brakes, I just leave the car in gear and it holds fine, from what I can tell the cables were disconnected by the previous owner.
