Vehicle Detail
Mostly original, this beautiful Catalina really stands out in a crowd. While GTOs and Impalas may demand more $$ you won't find a more beautiful design than the 68 Catalina. To me, that made it a bargain when I bought it. I am the second owner and purchased the car in 2008. I didn't ever expect to sell it, but I am forced to. It is originally an Indiana car but has been in North Carolina for many years. Always garaged. Actual mileage is 120,576--eBay won't let you add more than 5 digits on their form. It drives wonderfully and is very reliable--I drive it regularly and it's a real pleasure. I have driven it in several parades as well, and it always gets lots of attention and appreciation. Engine is a 400 ci, 2 barrel carb, with automatic transmission. Engine has been carefully cared for, and the original owner had it gone over completely a few years ago. I have had minimal work done to it, replacing coil wiring. It runs wonderfully smooth with great acceleration. Transmission is smooth and reliable. Brakes are good--I had them gone over a couple of years ago and replaced calipers. Exterior was repainted about 10 years ago, a very nice job. It is still in great shape although there are dings and scratches here and there. It shines up nicely. No dents at all and it has never been wrecked. Has the rare original fenderskirts which really look great. All logos are present. Convertible top is a replacement and is in great shape with original glass. However, the molding/seals on the convertible top frame need to be replaced. Convertible motor works but is sluggish and needs a hand to pull the top up. Original convertible boot is present, missing just a few snaps. It snaps in place firmly and looks beautiful. All glass is intact. Interior upholstery and carpet were replaced several years ago--carpet has a few discolorations but is solid. Seats are great with no tears and front two fold forward via latch to allow rear seat entry. Dashboard is cracked on the top (see pictures). Glove compartment latch is broken although the latch is present. Speedometer and odometer work nicely as do idiot lights. Gas gauge does not work, emergency brake does not work. Original AM radio was working until recently--I suspect it's a loose wire. Wipers and heater work, and two vents on either side below the dash open and close freely. I have sold cars successfully before on eBay--in all humility, I know what I'm doing. Don't even think of trying anything shady. Car must be picked up, I cannot deliver it. Tow it or drive it--it'll drive anywhere. Buyer must pay $500 within 48 hours of auction end. Balance can be paid with cash, cashiers check, or money order upon pickup. I need the transaction completed within 2 weeks of auction close. Please feel free to ask questions.
