Before listing a vehicle on ebay, I personally drive it so that I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. The description you are about to read is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on how it drives and how it looks. The information contained within this description is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and ability but cannot be guaranteed as I am not a mechanic, nor do I possess the facility, equippment or training to perform a professional inspection. Please read the entire description carefully before bidding or asking questions. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is one of my favorite cars of all time...the BMW 740i. Over the years, I have owned and sold more of these than I can count. This one is in need of a little help. I would rate the body of this BMW as below average. The biggest reason is what looks to be an unfinished repair over the passengers side rear fender. It looks like someone repaired a dent and never finished it. It's not really that noticable but it is there. Also, the lower grill inserts and fog lights are missing. Otherwise, this is a great looking BMW. The rest of the paint shines pretty well as you can see. The tail lights have been updated to the red and clear ones like the newer models came with. All of the glass and lenses look to be in tact. The tires are average. Again, not a bad looking car but not perfect. I would also rate the interior of this car as BELOW AVERAGE. The tan leather seats are in nice shape and don't really show any wear which is good. The drivers side lower "b" pillar cover is loose. The carpets and headliner are ok. Overall, the interior could use cleaned but that's about it. The stereo system sounds fine and includes radio and tape deck up front with a CD changer in the trunk and steering wheel controls. All of the power options (windows, mirrors and seats) appear to be in working order. The climate control also appears to be working as it should. The air conditioner is ice cold. This one is equipped with Homelink integrated garage door openers which is rare for an older 740. The remote is dead for the keyless entry. Mechanically, this BMW is also BELOW AVERAGE. The 4.0L engine starts right up but runs rough. This is evident when you drive it, too. There was no check engine light so I'd start with plugs and wires and go from there. I would bet that she just needs a routine tune up judging from the rest of the car. I saw no smoke and no leaks. The temperature holds nice and steady like it should The suspension handles the bumps pretty well...feels nice and tight. The steering is also tight but makes a creeking noise when you turn the wheel. The brakes feel fine but the "check brake linings" warning is on so it may need brakes...or maybe it never was reset. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts like it should. Overall, the condition of this car carries inside and out. It just looks like someone left it go over time. She needs someone to show some love to her. These are magnificent cars that deserve to be maintained and driven. Please give this car the life it deserves. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
