Vehicle Detail

Up for your consideration is a 1968 Ford van with 302 V8 and automatic transmission. I purchased a vehicle in Omaha, Nebraska but when I flew in to pick it up the vehicle had been misrepresented. After discussing this with the owner he agreed to sell me this vehicle instead. Before I left Omaha I started to have overheating problems. Took it to a radiator shop and had an oversized radiator installed. Installed new hoses and removed the thermostat. Still had a heating issue, installed an electric cooling fan and toggle switch, that helped dramaticly. However it didn't completely cure the problem. At interstate speeds it would still try to overheat, slowed down to about 50mph and it was marginal. About every 20-30 miles I would still have to stop and kill the engine and leave the cooling fan on for a few mins to cool the water in the radiator. I made it home like that with damaging the engine but it sure was a long drive. After arriving home I took it to a local mechanic and he and I have decided that whoever rebuilt the engine must have swapped sides with the head gaskets restricting the water flow. So the engine will need to have the headgaskets replaced. Engine runs great and hasn't used any oil, just has the heat issue. Transmissions shifts firm and I think the previous owner must have put in a shift kit. Body; I think you will be hard pressed to find a body as solid as this one. The only rust on the body is a small spot just underneath the drivers door lower hinge, but not affecting the hinge. That is an easy fix. The passenger door has been replaced and has a little rust on it, the only reason the passenger door was replaced was because the original door had a broken glass. The original door is included in this sale and is very solid, just has a broken glass. This vehicle sold as is/ where is with no warranty. The dealer I bought this vehicle from, never furnished me with a title, only a bill of sale. Therefore this vehicle is sold with BILL OF SALE ONLY. Any further guestions can be sent to me at gotomugshots@yahoo.com I am currently out of the country but my son will be able to assist in loading and picking up. I recommend that this vehicle be hauled on a trailer unless you are going only a short distance. The brakes work good but pull to the right, so they will need checking out also.On May-26-11 at 21:37:38 PDT, seller added the following information: IT HAS CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS BODY STYLE WAS PRODUCED FROM 1961-1967. I QUESS THIS VEHICLE COULD HAVE BEEN TITLED A 1968 IF IT WAS CARRIED OVER INTO 68 AND TITLED IN THAT YEAR. I'M TRYING TO RESEARCH THE VIN # TO DETERMINE THE RIGHT YEAR. This van doesn't have the original engine and transmission. V8 wasn't an option to these models, the original engine was a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual transmission. On May-27-11 at 06:51:04 PDT, seller added the following information: According to www.ford-trucks.com vin decoder this VIN# indicates that this van was built in June 1961 in Lorain, Ohio. It could not tell me original engine or the truck series. But the van doesn't have the original engine anyway.
