Diesel Mercedes Benz 240D - 4 Speed Manual Transmission - 35 MPG - Ultimate Commuter Car - Euro Classic We moved the Mercedes down from Northern Arizona to Scottsdale since the interest level was so high in the valley. This is a coveted family heirloom but now it’s time to pass it on. Emissions testing was just done here in Scottsdale and it passed with flying colors. This is a 1980 Mercedes-Benz Model 240D (Diesel 4-Cylender) #31. If you are a Mercedes car buff you are fully aware that these are becoming one of the most desirable and hard to find vehicles in the US to date. Many are converting these to WVO-SVO vehicles. These cars have been documented to reach 40 MPG in mixed city and highway driving consistantly! This car has been very well maintained over the years and the interior is in almost near perfect condition for a gingerly 31 years “young” car. This car been an Arizona and adult owned its entire life and has weathered well over the years. When is the last time you saw or drove a Mercedes with a manual transmission? This car has a very hard to come by Mercedes 4-speed manual transmission and the clutch still works as well as the day it was made. The engine has over 217k miles, the odometer broke shortly before our ownership and we estimate it has around 240-250k. These Diesel Mercedes are rated to go over half a million miles before they need any serious attention under the hood. Highlights: A/C and heater works great! 4-Speed manual transmission Leather Interior is in immacualte condition Good Rubber on all tires Newer Battery Spare Tire with matching rims All lights work New Windshield Meticulously maintained Mercedes Diesel Engine with zero issues Fresh oil change New Glow Plugs New Valve cover gasket New Hoses New Fan Belts Entire diesel fuel system has been purged in accordance with Mercedes OEM guidelines Body is straight with no accidents and very few imperfections for its age Manual Windows Alpine CD player Registration costs $25.00 yearly and insurance is very low This is an extremely reliable car; it starts every time with no issue Seats 5 people Does not leak or drip a drop of fluid Gets 35 MPG+ all day long…. SORRY FOR BEING SO BLUNT BUT THERE ARE SOME REDICULOUS QUESTIONS THAT KEEP COMING SO HERE YOU GO! Easy repairs to be made: 1) Shocks and Springs in front and rear are original and will need to be replaced in the near future. This is normal for a car with original suspension parts and this many miles. This is not an urgent concern as we drove it down from Flagstaff without issue but will need to be addressed in the future. 2) Turn Signals work intermittantly. However, the hazard lights work as they should so they can be used as a substitue. REPAIR QUOTE: We got a repair quote of $250 with OEM Mercedes parts. The cost is half of that if you buy used or non OEM parts. We have adjusted the price of the car to reflect the work needed. Do not attempt to use this repair cost as a bargining tool as we will not indulge you. Mechanic trouble shooted the turn singal issue. Discovered there is an electrical short in the turn signal cluster. Used parts for this car are abundent on Ebay and Craigs list and used car part sites. Do not attempt to use this repair cost as a bargining tool as we will not indulge you. PAINT: Exterior paint is a 4 or 5 out of 10 with spots where the clear coat has failed and the paint is exposed and some very small pen head sized oxidized spots but there are no major rust issues on the car what so ever. Folks this car has its factory paint but there have been a few obvious touch up attempts over the years by preious owners. Your concern should not be the paint when buying the car, it should be the amazing MPG's! PRICE: Just bid!
