Vehicle Detail
1949 Cadillac Sedanette, first American overhead valve v8, has a Cadillac 1950 engine and hydromatic auto transmission in it so its not a number matching car, though there where no differences between the 2 engines. this body style was only made in 48 and 49, there are very few of this car still around though restoration parts are easy to come by because of its shared commonality with the other Cadillacs of its time. These cars are VERY popular amongst the customization crowed and therefore it is even more rare to find one so original such at this. The car was disassembled to the frame where all surface rust was removed and it was coated with PRO-15 rust preventative paint with a top coat of chassis paint, the frame is solid and original. The under body was also cleaned and coated in PRO-15. The inside was soda blasted and is primed, The outside was stripped to bare metel, this revealed some past work that was not done to par, took 100 hours of body work to smooth out the driver side metel to original spec, will be another 100 hours to get the passenger side to spec. The only rust on the car is in the common spot for these cadies, the bottom corner of the fenders, each the size of your hand and has already been removed, it only needs a patch panel welded in. This car would make a fantastic rat rod as is, (it ran when i bought it 1 year ago) as all but 2 pieces of the chrome and stainless are already with the car (these cadies came dripping with chrome and stainless) it can also be restored as an original. It is also very common to chop the top and lower these and turn them into a very unique lead sled. I am selling because I was laid off from my previous job and need to get rid of my toy because I had to move and can't store it anymore. It has a California tittle, I never retitled it as it has been a project. On May-20-11 at 07:10:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Car is also for sale localy!
